He’s won the weakest Grand tour this decade, but I actually like the bloke when he rides like this. You can’t attack like this every stage obviously but I just dislike ANY rider who waits until 300m to go when he is clearly stronger. I still rate Quintana as 10x the rider regardless

Hmmm....

It was a smart move to go when S.Yates did seeing Pinot and Kruisjwilk were up the road - In normal circumstances both those riders would share the workload - As it turned out, Kruisjwilk was spent and offered no assistance while Pinot pulled for about 30% of the time - A well executed move.

Yates R E S P E C T
He took it to them (Alberto style)
and still didn't bonk.

My fav. GT winner of the last two years
if he stays in red.

Pinot, Yates, SK all took the initiative. Valverde, MAL Mas all looked to each other to chase and as a results lost any chances of upgrading their spots

Safe to say now that Valverde will never win a GT again.

As was mentioned earlier, the race for places 2 and 3 should be great tomorrow. I was a big fan of Kruijswijk today, but it looks like he may have burned all his candles going for it, which was nevertheless a great ride. Mas and MAL probably have more left in the tank than Valverde or Kruijswijk -- but after a night to recover, who knows?

Yep, and if he has any self-respect, this is the last time he'll ride for GC in a GT. It felt bad watching the old man get beat up like that.

Yates to bonk tomorrow and still win. What a farce of a route for a not so grand tour.

Still can't express how happy I am when Lopez loses. Have you noticed he never cooperates in a group? He either goes solo, or does nothing.

I wonder if Chris Horner was sitting back in his lounger chair watching and laughing, today. :p

Also great to see Uran do what he does best: following wheels to the line.

Still giggling from seeing him and Nairo in a 'group' together. Like watching excel crash from a circular reference as they both refused to ride.

It's safe... He shouldn't ride GT's for the GC anymore.

I thought it was a really enjoyable race. And plenty hard; you don't always need huge mountains to weaken the riders' legs.

Have to think what Pinot would be doing if he didn't lose that 1:44 on stage 6. Wonder if he ever wins a GT...

Valverde's performance at 38 is amasing ..to be up there fighting for a GT win or podium is unbelievable
I am not a fan but even I would have to say that he is an amasing rider and he should ride as he likes for as long as he likes...Look who he rode against when he first won the Vuelta and look where they are now ...and look who he is competing against now...

I think tomorrow we will see Valverde do all he can to defend his podium position and not go after the win. This podium, if he can hold on, will be a LOT to him.

And it shouldn't be. He has a tons of podiums, and this one, even if some kind of a record, shouldn't mean anything to rider of his caliber!

he is really clueless that one day he will need allies to win races not stages

Great riding today, es[ecially S Yates, Steve K and Tibo

Mas and MAL - lost more time than they needed through poor tactics

Richie still 18 minutes down

Probably a similar GC result but 2 stage wins lighter.
That I'm less sure of. On Covadonga I think he was the best and today he would clearly have won even if he'd been slightly higher up in GC
