Vuelta a Andalucia Ruta Ciclista Del Sol 2024, Spain, February 14-18

Just cancel it entirely then. This is beyond stupid.

0 empathy with people who think they're above the law and think that disrespecting people that have nothing to do with it is the way too show that they feel disrespected themselves.
I don’t know the details of the Spanish protests, have the farmers in question protested unlawfully or is it only a matter of draining police resources (lawfully)?

anyone have profils?

Ive only seen the TT one. It's like first 2km at 5.5ish%, then a flat part followed by a 3-4% ophill last km (last 700m technical on cobbles).

It's the one search posted here yesterday evening in reverse.

this is what I found, but no idea if those routes are official - as they come from Veloviewer, probably yes.

Yeah that's it. Stage 2 could actually be super entertaining. Over 2000 altitude meters in 100km is pretty damn hard and now that they've shortened the parcours there's not that much time to contol between hills.

On that profile it looks like it isn't the super steep last km then tho... way harder to make a difference then it if is actually that.

I also wonder if there's gonna be boni seconds on top of the hills like there were supposed to be.

At this point, just end this charade and call the whole thing off entirely. Or nuke some farmers into orbit, I'd be okay with that too.
Food is very important to all of us.
Farming in Europe (in and out of the EU) has a serious issue with its requirement to meet strict environmental regulations that don't apply to many other countries.
Produce grown outside of Europe is legally allowed to be imported and as a consequence of the regulations diferental the price undercuts European grown.
Farmers are asking for a level playing field.

Riding on the Via Salaria outdide Rome over the weekend I came across a brigade of tractors in protest with "Fook the EU" banners and "Without Agriculture We Have No Food" on their machines.

The part I don’t get and this might be an European thing but why is it taking so long to resolve the issues with the farmers?
Agriculture is more or less a state financed business model in Europe. On average, around half of the incomes come from state subsidies. Which obviously go hand in hand with demands in regards to climate protection, animal welfare, etc, but all this bureaucracy comes with problems for smaller farmers.

Those protests are driven by some of the richest companies though, aiming to earn even more money. So there are big influential players on the one hand and valid complaints on the other, resulting in quite a powerful protest. But with no easy solution in sight.

Lol there's a difference to a peaceful protest and blocking roads. They can protest all they want, just don't try to ruin the days of people who have nothing to do with it.

And no it has nothing to do with disrespecting "any kind of collective labor protests". I have exactly the same opinion with people who protest for Palestine of BLM or climate or whatever. Protest all you want, in a peacefull way, but don't do it by annoying "innocents" on purpose.
I assume you don't have a problem with roads being closed, at considerable annoyance to "innocent" locals, for bike races to happen.

I can fully understant it can be pretty annoying for certain people, but the amount of people hindered by it is often way less, but more importantly these things are carefully planned a long time before the closure actually happens so everyone can find a way to deal with. Not even remotely the same to Farmers blocking roads, even highways, hurting a whole countries economy, actually taking away the livelyhood of self employed people who can't do their job because of them.

Absolutely no reason to compare a legal road closure to (in a lot of countries) illegally blocking roads.

Anyways enough about this, race is finally starting today.

You really need to look at local press/social media when a bike race or closed roads sportif is planned: our sport is deeply unpopular among those who don't enjoy it.

I don't think you can open an area of debate and then declare that no-one can talk about it any more.
