According to a podcast the team has been leaked already and Lazcano is a part of it.

Mas, Rubio, Gaviria, Verona, Lazcano, Arcas, Cortina, Oliveira.
Gaviria.. why? I'd probably prefer if he didn't do the race. Very strong rouleur squad, but would want another climber instead. All focus on Mas and let Lazkano pick a few days similar to today should be the strategy IMO.

You actually don't need that much of a pure climbing squad to get a good support. Versatile riders and roleurs could be more important then usual in the Vuelta. Oier and Verona re really top domestique on a lot of terrain.

Also i think it would be wise to go a more stage oriented and medium mountain support-squad. Let's be honest it will be hard for Mas to even come Top 5 if the startlist is as good as it sounds.

The fact that Gaviria is supposedly in the Vuelta squad with a half-decent leadout combined with the fact that Mas is skipping Burgos tells us that Mas' recovery is going slower than planned and that Movistar therefore expect he will struggle to hit top form in the Vuelta.

Tomorrow's MTF

Given how he rode yesterday, I can see Rogla letting himself get dropped near the finish and just do the minimum to win the race.

Take those extra few seconds to let the magnitude of winning Vuelta a Burgos really sink in.

He's not gonna gift the stage win IMO, but I'm interested to see if he blasts it because he already has a good margin and losing 30s+ shouldn't be realistically possible.

Lagunas de Neila-day!

If I remember correctly, back in the day this day used to be quite a bit harder with another run in and another climb up to Lagunas altogether? Whats the reasoning for the change, because now its basically 'only' the last 4-5 km? Or maybe I just don't remember jack.

Nah that other side has an easier section between 4-2km that shuts down attacks in an unipuerto stage. This is pretty much the hardest side.

They tuned it down the year they introduced Picón Blanco.

Before that they may have used variations such as the parallel road to go back to Quintanar de la Sierra or descend the North side of el Collado and climb Neila from the North.

Thanks

For all the hype about Roglic at the moment, I expect him to win easily today. And hopefully not just a sprint. I think he should be interested in sending a signal that he really is back to his best just one week before La Vuelta with Vingegaard lining up alongside him.
