Blanco, yes, Valverde has been *** up a few times by such tactics. Its not uncommon for him, so...

Cant see the race because of work. Probably too much to ask but anyone on here got an honest neutral opinion of what happened after the crash.

Roglic didn't lose the race today because of the cars. He should get at least 30 seconds of penalty. On the other hand, movistar was awful

Peloton was just exiting a town into open fields with a lot of wind.
Movistar was near the front but the race was not (yet) on and the peloton did not yet hit the wind.
Crash happened and Roglic was involved.
In that moment Movistar put the hammer down.
They pushed for some 10k.
UCI apparently did not disconnect the convoy so the chasers including Roglic were using the cars to get back.
Maybe it was even explicitly allowed.
Therefore Movistar stopped riding.

IMO the race was not on at the moment of the crash and Movistar did not play it fair.
Personally I would not want to win this way.

However if UCI explicitly allowed the use of cars / draft, it was also wrong.

CN ticker says that Movistar claim the attack was planned but that there was an appearance of a distinct lack of fair play in the timing.

To be honest, it's about time these decisions fell on the officials rather than the riders and teams. If a crash warrants a neutralisation until everyone is back together, the race director should call that.

But the racing was going to be on. So because of an unfortunate event right before. The race shouldnt be on at all?

Pretty incredibly effort by Cavagna. Benefited from the peloton being quite tired but still amazing to hold the peloton off for 25 kilometers starting with hardly more than a minute.

This is the problem with this unwritten rule. It was a very obvious place to attack, in fact that's probably why the crash happened as people tried to get up front in case of splits. If that's the case, Movistar shouldn't be punished for getting up there early and spending the energy to stay in the right position.
