Man, Roglic is at a peak Valverde level on these kinds of finishes. You basically cannot beat him.

I though when he got blocked in in the middle of the climb that it was too tough to come back. But he certainly proved me wrong.

Honestly what finishes isnt he almost unbeatable now bar flat stages.

12km climb final sections 8%
climbs between 4-10km winning
Steep climbs 50-50 winning
probably could destroy Ala on Fleche if he wanted to

5 years ago these type of stages were straight-up fights between Valverde, Sagan and Dan Martin.

12 years ago Contador ripped it from really early and only 5 guys finished within 1s of Bettini.

I do think the field for this finish is probably very weak right now.

This is the second time they nicked him his time at the finish when he distanced others. Must be kind of annoying.
