Vuelta a España Vuelta a España 2020: Stage 11 (Villaviciosa › Alto de La Farrapona. Lagos de Somiedo 170km)

After Mas' comment about strategy, Valverde was asked and his comment was basically there are several options and we'd decide later. He also made a comment about we've been aggressive and will continue to be. Sometimes it will work, sometimes it won't, but we'll be there. So take from that whatever you wish, other than it sounds like they don't have any idea what they are planning for these two stages.
The plan is to Stick Valverde, Mas and Soler in the break, and then have Rojas jump across to them on the next to last climb,, have all three of them work for him so Rojas can then finish the attack off on the descent so he can use his climbing legs to win the stage and further the Team Classification lead.

If Roglic wins this only a major jacket fail can keep him from winning the whole race.

I think he is aiming for a win the following day. Then again, if Froome can summon it...he is probably looking for a win the following day also. I think the GC riders are going to be calm on this one. And then fireworks to come the following day.

Heal: Alberto Contador
Hurt: Christopher Froome

I quite enjoyed that Vuelta, actually humanised Froome a bit. The stage to La Camperona when he dropped at the start only to appear out of the crowd and start putting in attacks was great, as the GC battle mirrored the breakaway battle, Ryder coming back to pass Zaugg after people were accusing him of having a motor in his wheel . 2014 and 2006 tours we were absolutely robbed of what should've been epic battles. It was staggering how good Contador was coming back after a broken leg during the tour.

Movistar only team to try anything from any sort of distance today I think, though the others should probably try something as hoping Roglic dies from accumulated fatigue is their best chance at this point.

Yeah it’s a crime. People should be jailed for this. Just enjoy an amazing weekend instead of moaning.
The problem is that just doing the exact same stages in the opposite order would increase the chances of an amazing weekend. Angliru will be raced the same whether it's a Saturday or a Sunday, whereas Farrapona will be less likely to see action when it takes place a day before Angliru than if it takes place before a rest day.

Hopefully the high pace in the Suances stage plays a role, much as the Peyresourde stage in the Tour completely killed stage 6 into the worst Grand Tour mountain stage since Tarbes 2009, but the chaos of the maillot vert battle in the crosswinds on stage 7 made up for that.

They should just finish in Pola de Somiedo. ~10km of ~3% ascent after the San Lorenzo descent.

Movistar tactics are as drunk as always. The only difference is, now they're all friends, and are all drunk together!

:beercheers:
They will manage to make the stage hard just to drop Valverde & Soler on the penultimate climb and assure heroic isolation of Mas at the last one.

EDIT: But finally will win the trophy so muuuuuch desired by every team, LOL.
