2012 also had a starting TT (TTT then) with a ceremonial use of a landmark (finishing in the bullring) in an unseasonable heatwave. The earliest teams set off when it was approaching 45º, it eventually cooled down to 'only' about 40º...

We’ve often read about towns and cities vying to be start or finish towns for the boost it can provide to local tourism. I’ve wondered whether they really get much benefit when a route doesn’t highlight anything special (aside from the ubiquitous heli views). But this is a beautiful course that has me wanting to make a visit there!
