Anybody who wants to win this stage needs to drop Aranburu for good on the climb. Descent and sprint are in his favor (unless Trentin has his 2017 legs, but doesn't seem likely).

Cort has become more of a climber now, but for me he would still not be hopeless in sprint vs Aranburu.

Nice breakaway composition with a couple of fast finishers in Trentin/Aranburu, at least half dozen guys who are climbing well and some more all round riders who will need to attack from farther out to contend.

But shouldn't we assume that Storer, Martin, maybe Schachmann can drop Aranburu on such a difficult climb anyway?

The main group are pretty chill. It probably won't last, but if it does, I hope Eiking/Martin will do a Pereiro

Trentin + Aranburu anticipating. Herrada and De tier joining them.
DSM, EF and Ag2r missed the move and will be probably forced to chase.

I'll be very surprised if this ends up as the winning move with all the 2 and 3 rider teams behind
