The South African flag is a memorable sight to behold... it's like the designers vomited a whole bunch of colors and called it a day.

Well everybody knew that Lopez in many cases is a very limited rider. Exceptional on his day, but not really good at anything else than climbing mountains and does have his fair share of bad days.. in contrast to his teammate Mas whos much more well polished as a GT rider.

It was only a matter of time before Haig confirmed his GC talent. He was always stuck behind the leaders at Bike Exchange and I always had wondered why he hadn’t been given his own GC opportunities in GTs when Simon wasn’t around considering how inconsistent Adam/Chaves have been the previous four years. He has always looked on the cusp of a breakthrough.

He was due to lead the team at the 2020 Vuelta but that plan was aborted because of COVID along with him leaving the team - Haig lead the team in at least one week stage races in 2019/2020.

Lopez missed the right move with Haig, Mader, Roglic, Yates and Mas in it with 60km left. Nobody would work with Lopez, so he lost about 4 minutes in the next valley, now he is having words with his DS after getting off the bike and wanting to quit the race.

He is now reported to be behind the Bernal group even.
