Maybe he is the good guy, yet you randomly decided long ago that he was on your naughty list based on his riding, and now you're projecting the traits you dislike about his riding over on his personality and therefore think that the media are manipulative on this topic.

It never occurred to you for a second that your hatred of him perhaps is not that well-founded?
There's more to portraying him as the good guy than just saying that he is a nice guy, there's also the clear portrayal of the others as villains of the piece.

Of course it's occurred to me, but when everybody is taking offence at others' actions on his behalf like a gaggle of adolescents defending their favourite K-pop idol, I find it hard not to react in kind to that, extending the vitriol. It's like...I have nothing against Remco Evenepoel, but his fanboys sometimes make it hard for me not to. Sepp Kuss hasn't really had fanboys to a great extent for most of his career, so outside of racing scenarios, a lot of the time (course discussions, general threads and stuff) the Sepp stuff is kinda kidding on the square - I do genuinely dislike him a lot, but while a lot of the posts are genuine, I'm also capable of self-reflection and I also play it for laughs sometimes as well, especially in non-race threads such as when talking about parcours or in lighter hearted threads such as the Cycling Classes With the Pros one. In racing scenarios, however, I often get caught up in the emotions and you're more likely to see the genuine dislike come out there - and then the more people post about how great a person he is and how impossible it is not to like him, the more I dig my heels in.

I find his personality to be extremely bland, but because of the way the media wants to portray Jonas and Rogla because they've decided that Sepp is the story they want to tell (probably because it's the best copy with the only drama left in the race being the Jumbo intra-team rivalry), he is getting praised and hyped as this wonderful person that we should all love, simply for fulfilling the bare minimum of not being a Petter Northug-level tool.

I will never understand why riders who will get dropped before the last climb has even started ride with guys like Remco, Caruso, Poole, etc.

Like Germani and Askey. You have someone like Storer not in the break and you're taking pulls? Hofstetter why? Even Lotto honestly. Should've gotten LVE in this, not Kron and Drizners.

That’s what years and years of over the top hype leads up to when it doesn’t turn out like they thought it would. The backlash is inevitable.
I get it... it's just grinding my gears cause it;'s like every 5th comment... and I'm not even a particularly fan of him. And the guy's still young and has already pretty impressive palmares anyway.

"I don't know why other people like me and want me to win! I'm just a human being, like everyone else. We're all competitors and sometimes it's hard to see the human aspect but, yeah, I'm just trying to be nice to people." everyone, give my best for the people. The team has given me their support and they really want to support me, but I also have to deliver and stay focused in these stages and give my best. There is still a lot of racing left." -

Just came from watching a longer interview with Jonas by Danish TV2.
Jonas is really insisting bold in his claim numerous times that he really hopes Kuss wins this GT. And when directly challenged on how his role will be in today's stage his answer was something like "pretty evident from what I've just stated".
I.e. with Primoz' take from yesterday: just as evident who will stand as Vuelta'23 favourite after today's stage: Primoz Roglic.
And how I will just cheer for that situation. I'm always rooting for whoever is chasing victory and proves strong enough for it.
Then, for my sake, Jonas can watch his own Netflix series afterwards.
