He was super loyal to Bernal, even though Bernal was young and new to the team
He also rode for Froome for quite a while in 2018 iirc even when he was in yellow and it was clear he was the better rider.

It was a loaded question definitely, but I'd rather see people giving candid and interesting answers to questions rather than just 'yeah we are just focusing on our race and I'll see how the legs feel today'.

I think Kuss has now got this today and will retain red until Madrid. After the complete over reaction by the cycling media I expect that both Vingegaard and Roglic have been told by team management to pull their horns in to guard against any further bad PR. The race will now fizzle out into a snooze fest and a different batch of fans will stomp up and down due to a lack of racing. You can't have it both ways. Meanwhile Roglic may already be telling his manager to find him another team for next year.

It's a battle of tastes between... people who enjoy family friendly Disney movies (with hugs, smiles & teammates singing kumbaya whilst dancing around the climbs holding hands with perfect team tactical harmony) versus Mad Max fans who just want R rated apocalyptic nihilistic action in a GT, uncensored, with teammates stabbing each other in the face on the road & throwing insults at each other via the press.

This Vuelta became an action thriller on Stage 16, i.e. "Viewer Discretion is Advised " should have been plastered all over the Eurosport intro program today considering some of the viewer reactions we're seeing.

Bob had some issues he was working through.
Bob was a nurse. I think Bob had a bit of complex about that, because Bob was also swole, and I think Bob felt like people judged him for being a nurse because most nurses weren't swole men. I always wished he could accept himself more, so he would slow the f**k down. Plus, the stigma that being a nurse was a "woman's job" was bullsh!t anyway. Bob needed to self actualize.

Yep. That's the thing. How many GT champions have gifted a GT to a teammate because of "respect" or "loyalty"? It's just not a thing, but it's now expected and demanded of Jonas and Rog.
Isn’t the sample size pretty small though? How often have we had, going in the final days of a GT, 2 (or 3) teammates close together at top of GC standings with a 4-5 lead over the nearest competitor, AND the stronger teammate trails by some seconds?
The latter part is important because if Jonas was 10 seconds ahead no one would be talking about “gifting” the the Jersey.

ed. i suppose 85 Tour has some similarities.

New vacation destination? It would be for me if I could teleport myself. ;)
I said that first time now almost 40 years ago and is still on my to-do.
Unfortunately, now both my wife has a favourite at western Sicily, my daughter at Tuscany and friends on western Mallorca as each yearly corner stones, so hard negotiations ahead, but just as riders are feeling it has to be a struggle to get to most beautiful terrains.
*edit* time to drop my phone from 111th floor.

Well, it was G's job as domestique. Once it was clear that Froomey wasn't going to win and G was the strongest of the Tour, G rode to win.
