W/Kg are rarely super high in the Vuelta, just because of where it is in the season, with a few exceptions, same reason as to why the time gaps are never that big. I know everyone's thinking that Tourmalet stage is going to be carnage but unless prime, full-epo Bobby Heras is here then I have my doubts.

So congrats to Primoz! JV tried to tire Remco and attacked with Kuss but clearly the Belgian felt much better today. He set a strong, even pace, which is the best tactic for him especially on a steep climb like this (little drafting). Almighty Sepp is the leader now. The TT will be crucial for him - if he still has a minute or so advantage over main contenders afterwards then who knows what will happen!

Rewatched the sprint. They had a pretty slow bend they came out at ~275 to go into a little kicker uphill. Evenepoel kicks 20s before the finish, and Roglic already passes him 8 seconds after the sprint is launched, with the speed being under 40kph before the exit the final corner.

It's not like he led out some long sprint and got beaten to the line in the final 50m.

Just watched the stage. Beautiful stage IMO.
Though speaking GC I had expected fireworks from Roglic.
But Remco's drilling really took me as he managed to control TJV damage that way. His sprint surprised me, but just learned he didn't hear his DS that this was about the stage win.
To me it was not a 'meh' stage, plenty of things happening underway, to me good TV.

And best part is suspense is preserved with yet more unknowns.
Still exciting race, of what I've been able to watch until now.

I'm not sure. I mean his potential is big but I'm far from certain he's that strong already. Even if Remco fades during most difficult stages Rogla is no slouch and has had a good preparation.

Yeah that was mature riding not going into the red taking the Kuss bait dangled by Jumbo Visma that instead ended up handcuffing their own co-leaders until the last 500 metres of the climb where they then concluded it was not enough benefit to attack with a descent to come.

Yeah, I thought the climb was a bit of a letdown because there was no real separation among the top dogs, but it also left me more excited about the rest of this Vuelta because today showed they (including Ayuso) at really close in their form. It could also mean there’s a lot of watching each other, but I think Jumbo needing to take advantage of their numbers should produce some attacking stages.

Remco 1) either lost a sprint to Roglic or 2) he thought there were no bonus seconds in dispute.

1) is usual while
2) would be the public second brain fart he had in Vuelta;

Remco fans prefer to uphold #2 instead of #1 which is actually more humiliating for Bambi.
