FWIW and to put some oil on the fire for those who don't love Remco, in his interview he literally said: "I think I could have won"
Fanboys will bend this into: "if Remco knew this, he 100% sure would have won"
Haters will bend this into: "he doesn't respect the winner and it's low level to claim you are better and you didn't win because you didn't try"

My take is he was frustrated and everybody would feel like that. That's all there is to say.

Ayuso probably 'could' have won as well. I mean it's bike racing. When riders push this sort of power & they're so close in terms of level anyway, winning is possible for quite a few guys here.

There's a video on Twitter where Rog is telling Grischa Niermann he didn't give him the correct intel about the final bend (something about it being way longer on the flat on the final straight than he thought). So the margins are fine for everyone.

you should troll his thread like you did the Roglic thread yesterday then
You mean the link to the video showing Roglic crossing wheels while trying to move up and, in the end, resulting in Pierre Latour crashing out of this Vuelta and in his own team mate Kuss crashing as well?
I can't help that Lanterne Rouge trolled you by just explaining what was happening, and it didn't look good what Roglic did. But I understand now that the Roglic thread is only for fanboy comments.

I have to agree here. I'm 110% certain neither Rog nor Jumbo give a sh*t about any post race comments but imagine if Evenepoel was beaten by some random guy (Lenny Martinez for example) & then proceeded to say "oops, I didn't realize I was sprinting for the win!".

It doesn't say what his fans think it does (which is "my bad, I was foolish"), no, it says "I didn't really lose and this guy who beat me isn't as good as me!".

I think in this situation it's fair to say Evenepoel's comments are a bit too much. I gave this some consideration before posting (i.e. knowing all too well how touchy this sort of topic is), but come on... it's not okay to downplay someone else's win like that.

did u even watch the interview?

he said: "I feel stupid, actually."

ah, but haters are simply going to hate no matter what, and they won't even try to be informed with the facts.

Primoz Roglic is living rent free in your head

Far from. I would call Remco stupid if I was around him, and laugh for days and years as this makes him look foolish!
It's just part of life..young people don't have a long history of great judgment. Remco is making a fundamental mistake of commenting soon after the heat of battle when his emotions are too high.. Silly? Sure but he wears his emotions on his sleeve and doesn't take the time to cool down, look big picture. All about maturity and composure and he is a young stallion learning as he goes.. Part of life being embarrassed by things you did, said, wore as a young inexperienced person.. I wish people would have talked me out of many haircuts, girlfriend and clothing choices I made when I was a bit younger

I don’t condemn him. Others do…I’m sure his team mates / friends will tease him with this long time after this race.

W/Kg are rarely super high in the Vuelta, just because of where it is in the season, with a few exceptions, same reason as to why the time gaps are never that big. I know everyone's thinking that Tourmalet stage is going to be carnage but unless prime, full-epo Bobby Heras is here then I have my doubts.

This was quite good though, certainly showed promise after a bad day on Thursday, probably something like 6.9-7.1.
