Evenepoel strong enough to prevent any fireworks, but not strong enough to create any separation. Jumbo get the stage and the red jersey, so they'll be happy, but no time gaps between anybody important really. Bit of a letdown after Javalambre.

The main thing now will be how Jumbo manage the red jersey being on a rider who wasn't expected pre-race, will it be like Astana '08 with Leipheimer and Contador, or will it be like Sky '11 with Froome and Wiggins, where in the end the time lost by Froome working in the red jersey on La Manzaneda (of all climbs, the one that barely averaged over 5%!!!) cost them the GC win (for eight years at least).

Quite fascinating that we have 2 teams that both have 3 of the 8 strongest riders. It’s not going to be easy for Remco and Mas to avoid being tactically outplayed.
Mas rides for Movistar. He could get tactically outplayed in a straight fight if he had the stronger legs.

Lastras, Roelandts and Sciandri are their decent DSes. None of them are at the Vuelta.

Way to go Remco!!! Strongest today

This is what he does best and how he wins races. Just a strong pace and ride people off the wheel, or at least prevent attacks, like today. If he didn't go all out either Kuss would go away or they would do a 1-2 with Vinge and Roglic. So as along as he has the power to do this he should do good.
