it's a 30pt sprint stage only tomorrow, where Mads Pedersen maybe can finish 5th (17pt) or so. So in regards to defending the jersey, going for a 20pt intermediate sprint today absolutely makes sense to me.
I would be surprised if he runs with all 20 points today with the obstacles leading up to.
All in all, a crazy location of a bonus sprint - but it's probably in line with trying to animate an equally crazy Mads.

Danish journalists interview Træn in Danish (he answers in Norwegian). Which is cool. Does that happen elsewhere in cycling? Spanish reporters interviewing Portuguese riders in Spanish?

I'm starting to doubt that Mads has read closely what is about to hit him.
(I mean far too much pulling in the group at the false flat lead-in).

Of course the most boring rider in the history of cycling will win this Vuelta in the most boring way .

Honestly it feels like Visma are a little scared when they're not going for it today.

Maybe Jonas isn't as good as they expected
Yeah also surprised they don't at least have someone in the break. Normally they love throwing riders up the road in these kind of stages. Also no reason to save someone because all the following days will be quite easy. Weird.
