It's between Contador and Pinot now. Henao is just not good enough TT-er and he will lose lot more in downhill and (admittedly short) flat parts, than he is able to gain on the climb.

Contador is the favourite to me. Still sounds a bit strange, but a flattish ITT, instead of a very hilly we have, would give more of an advantage to Pinot. But should he win, what a statement it would be.

So the top 4 are in 12 seconds. It is going to be really interesting TT tomorow. Contador looked super though, I think he held something back for the TT. He clearly didn't go all out after the initial attack.

it is possible, but every second with Pinot, Quintana and Purito is important...Contador has a very strong attack, but later he fade a little. so I dont know. He is of course the main favourite for GC, but everything can happen.

We just have this reference this year, and it supposed Contador is stronger now:

12. FRA PINOT Thibaut FDJ 01'02" 0
13. ESP CONTADOR VELASCO Alberto TNK 01'03" 0

Taxus, you know Verona well. Please ask him what he was doing on that final climb.

There are two easy options:

a) He likes Contador or Contador is his idol
b) He got paid

It is definitely not like Gallopin situation

Yeah, I agree that it must be one of those two options. Sky will pay Verona back at some point in the future.

Basque, in Spanish is Mediodia (12 o'clock) so that's why I said midday

That is right ...its worse as Verona had nothing to gain by draging Contador and others after Landa
While Gallopin was riding for his GC place

I hope there is equal outcry from those who castigated Gallopin
Because if there is then that would show at least some equal reaction to this thing ...and not becasue it was your favourite rider losing out ...

So, Txurruka wasn't in the break on any stage of this year's race.

Another reason for my dislike against Orica.

Hard to be in a breakaway when you struggle to keep up with the Pelton. At least Tzurruka's form has improved in the last 2 weeks.

Gallopin rode against his teammate, Verona did not. I hope that you could understand that

I see. Well it's also a typical mistake in the Netherlands. Where we say "middag" in dutch. :)

I guess the first. They were speaking on the start line a few days ago (seemed like friendly conversation not like they were making a deal) and Verona also trains with the kids in Alberto's teams sometimes

Tomorrow Contador will win, he has the best recovery and he is a better time trialist than henao. Pinot will lose a lot of time in arrate
Fingers crossed!!! I am so nervous and excited at the same time :) :)

Except that he didn't as he was chasing to get back to the second group so he could 1. Be there to sprint for the win if the front 3 were brought back and 2. Protect his GC place.

There is no reasonable explanation for what Verona (or Brambilla?) was doing.

I think the next highest placed rider in the break was Monfort who finished 6:22 down and that was with Rosa being on his own in front for nearly 100km. That really was a special ride.

Gallopin said that he pulled because he like him as they play rugby or whatever, not because of his 9th place in GC. I guess Brambilla just wanted to earn some money and it is perfectly fine as there were no QS riders around, it is like Tiralongo working for Contador.

Early contender for solo victory of the year. Mythical :) and a good sign for the Ardennes

that quickstep rider wasn't verona. it was brambilla. verona is WAAAY taller

I think you're right, Ryo. Watching it back that's definitely Brambilla's riding style and he also finished the stage 3 minutes ahead of Verona.

Rugby thing is a side reason, obviously.

Ha ha KIrby " A hugh day and dominated by one man Si Clarke...what a guy he is " OMG

For all the mistakes he makes, let's be fair to him: he was talking about Rosa, and then his heartthrob Clarke came onto the screen (as he thought: it was of course Craddock).

From Greipel in Flanders to Clarke today and Reichenbach every time he races.

We should create a thread to predict which rider Kirby will fawn over in the next race/stage he commentates on.

I'm going to guess he massively promotes Luke Durbridge for Roubaix. After that I guess he drones on about Robert Wagner and Alan Marangoni.
