J.Rod amazing ITT.Good performance from Henao and S.Yates.Imo Spilak would have won this, poor guy :(
Did you do the math? hard to tell TBH, but it did not look like a winner to me.

Murito podiumed a TDF tt a few years ago. He's also come 5th on a tt here before. Not that big a surprise. I'm glad, as a Murito fan to see him doing so well. Also cos I have him on cq though its a shame no bonus seconds cost him some leaders jersey points.

Surprise for me when I look at the GC though is Zapatero. Still going strong.

I'm very happy for Purito. I certainly didn't expect him to be already this good after the problems he had. I'm looking forward to LBL, hope he wins it. Congrats to Dumoulin for a nice win and happy for Izagirre. He really deserved this podium.

I don't think Špilak would have won the GC but I'm sure he would have done a great TT. Too bad, he was terribly unlucky. I still don't know what happened there https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7QsxvhsIiA
Katusha didn't even mention it on the website...classy. I know Purito won but still...

Cancellara isn't clearly better anymore. The cycling world chances.

And Malori is better in shorter TT's, not longer ones.

Cancellara isn't better anymore and Malori certainly isn't. Dumoulin has beaten both on several occasions last year.
Wiggo, yeah obviously. But he's almost reitred.

Surprised you name Malori btw, almost made me laugh, he's been beaten by Dumoulin on so many occassions it's not even funny

He beat Malori in the WC ITT and in the 2013 Romandie Prologue, but in the 18km long Romandie TT Malori was 2nd and over 1min faster that Dumoulin. I like both guys and Dumoulin is a way better climber and better in any hilly TT, but I don't know if I'd pick him over Malori in a long plain flat TT.
Maybe we can have an AV bet for this years ITT WC :)

On what occassions? Name two. Actually Malori beat Dumoulin more than other way around.

The commentators at Eurosport are ridiculous. They thought Quintana was the leader when he arrived when clearly he had been beaten by Izaguirre. LOL.

And please why they kept repeating that Yates was the favorite along with Quintana. LOL again. That is disrespectful to the other deserving riders. Which was almost everybody else in the top ten.

People seem to expect Quintana to dominate every time the road goes uphill. He's not a power climber , he needs big long hard climbs to be at his best, higher the altitude the better

Malori doesn't beat Dumoulin in long flat itt's, maybe short ones. But that doesn't make him a better itt-er. More like a better prologue/short ITT specialist.

Next.

Very honorable mention to Rui Costa who worked himself up to 7th place on a race that doesn't suit him at all. On the part of the TT where I expected him to be not so good, he actually gained time on others.

Well done Joaquim.

Dumoulin has got the upper hand on Malori in longer TT (bronze medallist at the Worlds, 2nd in the long Tour ITT). The Italian is a 'prologue rouleur'.

How much quicker was purito than dumoulin on the climb? Impressive ride by both for diffeerent reasons, Movistar probably should have worked for a different rider and maybe they would have won

ofcourse it does.

A time trial specialist, to me, is one who excels at longer time trials especially.

Malori is a decent ITT-er, but more a prologue specialist. Not the better time trialler

Interesting end to the race. The terrain was too much for TJVG and Martin as expected. Incredible ride by Doumoulin and excellent win by Rodriguez. I did not know Felline was so good at the TT. I think the riders will be sick of seeing the final climb by now !
