The group is likely to stay away, right? Astana should be a good bet for a winner with three strong riders (Landa, Taraamae and Landa), but Arredondo is probably the best climber in the group. Lotto also has Gallopin and Wellens who could potentially win. If Martin gets away om a descent or on the flat you never know if he will be brought back.

I don't think Purito will be able to drop Henao. The Colombian looked the strongest yesterday but also on wednesday which was very much a Purito climb. Quintana I dont know what to expect from. Looked easy wednesday but disappointing yesterday.

Me too. As the commentators pointed out; the riders got families and friends watching this, and if we - complete strangers - get so horrified, imagine how they must feel.

As I understood it:

Dopers build up muscle memory and their bodies never 'forget' the effect of enhancement, even when riding clean. Therefore they should get life bans as they'll always be cheating. Likewise the body never forgets when a rider has been naturally good and then regresses, such as in Betancur's case. Therefore he still has that muscle memory and can come back to his previous level.

I don't think Kirby intended to suggest Betancur was doping, but did make reference to his fondness for ice-cream and laziness.
