in the japanese road championships page, it is listed as being in hiroshima. however, this year it was in Iwate prefecture about 200 kilometers north of Fukushima, where the big earthquake was in march.

some other details about the course: they did 13 laps of a hilly 15.5 km course for a total of 201.5 km. the last 3.5 km averaged 6% to the finish.

on the podium arashiro joked, "you should scan beppu's bike. After all, it's the same a cancellara's."

i'm not sure if this is the correct place to report this, but at the bottom of the front page is what looks like an ad form something called "babici". i wanted to find out more about it and tried to click on it but nothing happened. perhaps the link is broken.

In spite of their smooth collaboration, the Spanish pair ultimately gained just one second on Andy Schleck (Leopard Trek) and Cadel Evans (BMC), but they did manage to distance Thomas Voeckler (Europcar).
Sanchez and Contador didn't gain any time on the Schlecks.
