Pretty good list. I don't know Beer Chang, where is it from? The Arrogant Barsterd is brewed by Stone not Rogue, by the by.

Cath Cheatley (New Zealand) at the Cascade Cycling Classic. More importantly, what is the beer like (oe the six pack that Cheatley is holding). Wish I got a six pack for winning a race.

Yes, I know NA beers are like kissing your sister, but there are times when maybe I don't want to drink a beer, but I don't want water, or sickley sweet soft drinks. This one by Heinie is the "best" I have found. Anyone else have a "favorite" NA beer? No one will hold it against you.

...last week in Alabama. I laugh (or cry) at the fact that I can only afford to enjoy proper Belgian (and most other European) beers when I'm in the states...given my current proximity to aforementioned beverages.

If you've got the time, and the space why not brew your own? It is not rocket science, and Belgian styles are very forgiving.

How much space are we talking? Time I could probably find...space, like good beer, is at a premium here :eek:

Space to boil about 5 gallons (30l) of "wort" (pre-beer), cool it down, put in a 5 gallon (30l) container to ferment, etc. Lots of people do the brewing in the kitchen, ferment and bottle etc in the basement. See if you can find a local homebrew supply shop (like your LBS). Someone there can give you a good idea. There is the best situation, then there is the workable one. If there is a local brewpub of microbrewery you may be able to get good healthy yeast from them which is ALWAYS a plus... I don't know about Norway... I seem to recall reading about people smuggling homebrew supplies across the North Sea from the UK. Check out the legal status. Taxation may be the issue. Could be even more fun if you have to do it in secret!

Best thing was it was at a bike shop, the one who I race for. So it was me, the owner, another regular customer and the other dude who works there.

Limited quantity

Someone I know brought a freshly emptied bourbon barrel back from Kentucky. There was still some bourbon sloshing around. I filled it with 75% Stout and 25% strong keeping ale. Aged for 3 months, now quite delicious. I couldn't begin to describe the many layers of flavor, roast malt, chocolate malt, oak, silky smooth malty sweetness with layer of hop bitterness (oops looks like I began). Only have 2 kegs and I'm not sure what to do with it....?

Next week

I'll be going to a beer festival, about 150 brewers each with 3 to 10 different beers, a "real ale" tent... I'll get a few pics.
