I don't think Saxo has the budget to pay Contador and Cancellara at the same time, and Saxo classic team is not much better than RSNT

+1, I have no idea why people think that. RSN was actually decent today, Cancellara always had at least one teammate close-by. Which current team, except for OPQS, has the classics helpers he needs? I don't see Fabs moving to Greenedge or Liquigas, those teams have their own agendas.

I think this will break him mentally. Be interesting to see if he can come back as good as before.....

This will probably hit him hard but I don't think he will be broken. He may be riding really soon, in a week or two, I guess.

But I do agree that he need a change, and a team with more support.

Triple fracture? Be lucky to be back in a month.

O

This should be seen as the last resort and leave the Schleck brothers and move to a new team. The first team that comes to mind is Greenedge. He would have sole leadership their and be supported much better.(O'grady,Langevelde,Goss,Cooke)

Interesting. I think Katashua would be a good fit. Big budget & some good support guys ready to roll. Astana maybe?

I agree that he should change teams. Even at the tour he shouldnt have to help others the whole time because he could certainly have won some road stages if he didnt have to work for the schlecks the whole time. Get in some breaks, win some hilly stuff and just attack more and be protected. What would be a good team for him.. Obviously Saxo if they get some better riders again, maybe Vacansoleil if they drop devolder at the end of the year to open up some money to sign cancellara.
For the rest of this year he should build back up for the olympics and then build up for the worlds TT and RR. (with more focus on the RR considering he hopefully just won the olympic TT).

Tandy's got the biggest engine in the peloton and until Flanders somehow failed to plan for a viable classics squad? This is the same Bruyneel with no Wonderboy.

Katusha, Astana and Sky in the rare case when their sole task ISN'T towing their sprinter to the last 300 meters.

Yeah both Katusha and Astana would also be good fits all things considered, they definantley have larger $$$.Just think with Gerrans and Cancellara for the ardennes and cobbles would be good mix.

Ummm, first he should get his collarbone fixed.

Then stop crashing.

Then he should try something different :p

The "stop crashing" thing is important. I don't know what was going on with Cancellara this season, but after MSR, something was off, especially given his normal freakishly great bike handling skills. He crashed repeatedly at E3, and early on in today's race over cooked a corner and almost crashed--not what we expect from FC. He wasn't up front as much as he should have been too. The feed zone crash was probably just bad luck--horrible luck--but luck is also something you make. Something doesn't seem right to me. His attention was off.

It can be screwed back pretty much same as simpler fracture.
But it is going to hurt.
(I know from experience)

I have no ide how long it may take.
IIRC Armstrong started riding soon, and Pozzato too.

Swiss media reports successfull surgery of one and a half hours. Collarbone found to be broken in four places and fixed with a nail. Return to racing expected within five or six weeks, they're looking to start indoor training within days.

Armstrong was training in the mountains 3 weeks after surgery.

Pozzato returned to racing six days after surgery.

I hope Cancellara can come back soon, too.
It is not the same without him.

Any person, any rider can do one thing at the time. Bottles should not be lying on the road in the first place.

I hope Cancellara goes stage hunting in the Tour, and not just in the boring time trials.

Its times like these you get to do a lot of reevaluation of one’s career. I really hope he becomes 100% for himself in terms of going wins. I think he can offer a lot more in Grand Tours than being a Shleck chaperone. It saddens me to watch him do it to see the Shlecks non-deliver.

I also find Bruyneel’s comment bemusing. It’s like he doesn’t really care and thinks it’s “just a collarbone”. Bruyneel should know better how big these races are. But he’s a Grand Tour head he doesn’t really rate Classic wins.

I’m not sure on the conditions of Fabs’s contract but I doubt he’d be riding for Leopard next year. He needs to move on. Even BMC would be a better option than RSL.

I might be wrong, but i think that Radioshack Nissan had a very decent team yesterday, the best after OPQS. And I'm interested to see what Tony Gallopin would do in the future.

Everyone has woken up when he attacks. They will just sit & wait. He's become a one trick pony with no other options. He really needs to find another way to win that doesn't involve trying to ride off the front and soloing to a win.

He's beginning to look stupid.

Well, seeing how he has made a very good living racing bicycles for quite a few years, and is considered at the very top of the elite in his specialties and you're on the internet telling him how he should race, who looks stupid?
