He also seems to have changed his name from Christian to Christopher since then. And it looks like he was interested in motorsport back then. If he'd kept that up maybe he could have been boss of the Red Bull F1 team by now.

Great win for cleanER cycling today. After the crap that happened in July it's good we now have a rider we can believe in.

I'm guessing there will be alot of bitter Europeans posting in this thread accusing Horner of cheating, very sad of you if you do.

Horners always been a question mark to me. Seems plausible that he's extremely athletically gifted but just the type of guy no one would trust and naive enough to believe the BS and now look stronger since things have cleand up some. Also its possible that he didn't dope and then did and we're seeing that now.

Please do not group all fans by nationality
Well, there will always be exceptions, but grouping fans by nationality tends to work pretty well.

Too bad Horner is not British or at least was born in some God forsaken third world country and claims he is British. Then Jimmy Fingers and the gang would be lining up to rationalize this performance.

Wait he was born in Japan. Does that work?

I think so.

Watashi wa, wareware wa shinjiru koto ga dekiru chanpion o motte ureshī.

There's no way someone from Japan would cheat, not with the honor code they have. I heard that it's 2nd only to the British honor code.

I thought Horner was from a third world country, at least if his countries health system is anything to go by:mad:

Well, much to the despair of third rate cyclists here, we don't have problems with bilharzia and if we did then I feel confident we could cure it in less than four years.

I haven't been following the Vuelta as much as I'd like but I just read this: Lequipe Article: Horner: I can win Where horner says he can win the GC.

I personally really hope we don't get to that...

Google Translate:

Horner: "I can win"
Winner of the 3rd stage 41 years and new red jersey, Christopher Horner (RadioShack) hope to continue this momentum, "I think I can win the Vuelta. "

At age 40, last year, he still finished 13th in the Tour de France. Chris Horner had even started the season with a 6th place in Tirreno - Adriatico, just behind Nibali, Froome and others. But this race was also grinding his knee. So much so that he had to have surgery before the end of May to abandon the Tour de France. "It is true that I started very strong this season. Then you fall, you get hurt and everyone forgets you. Then you come back and you can do well, "said the winner of the day when he got off the bike. "I thank Fabian Cancellara. When I've had my three months ago, he told me he would help me to take the red jersey. "
In ambush after the second place in the RadioShack against the clock by teams (where Cancellara was the locomotive), Horner seized his chance Monday in the 4 km of the final climb: "There were a lot of attacks. I took the last runner (Santaromita) but I was not sure it was the last. In the car, they shouted to me: "Go! Go! ", Said the American. When you win here with all these world class riders, you know you're one of the best too. "Horner had already confirmed its revving winning the queen stage of the Tour of Utah, the race recovery (2nd overall). "Now I think we can defend this jersey a few days. (...) I'm in great shape, no kilo too. I love this course. I won the Tour of the Basque Country (2010) and I think I can win the Vuelta. "
Without a contract for 2014

Soon 42 years old (he will celebrate on October 23), Chris Horner did not think yet retired: "At this moment, I feel that I can continue to run forever. For now, I am free to contract for next year. "
