Rumor has it the search warrant on Ball was served by the Fashion Police.

Now I can really stand behind this. If only they would issue warrants against Footon-Servetto and ISD-Neri

Tiger sure sustained a lot of damage for a scandal that 'blew over.'

The guy is ruined if you haven't noticed..

Tiger may not have been ruined, but his commercial endorsement value has no doubt been seriously eroded. And, Tiger was not in the cross hairs of a federal justice investigation.

This whole thing may not blow over as conveniently as Armstrong might wish.

And the earlier comment about how forgiving cancer survivors are may be overlooking a possible potent backlash if they discover their advocate is a fraud.

For example, nothing is being made of the fact that WADA have said that, should the UCI **** up in any way during the TdF, the AFLD will immediately step in and conduct their own tests.

I don't care for Tiger anymore than I do LA and while I agree Tiger sustained a lot of damage, tied for 4th at the US Open isn't exactly ruined IMO.

If you also haven't noticed, golf is walking in the park hitting a rock with a stick. Tiger is a guy who watches which way the grass grows and which way the wind blows and hits the rock accordingly.

He was getting paid the big bucks because a lot of people believed his dad's bs, that he was going to be the next Gandhi/Mandela/MLK. He was much bigger than golf.

Now he's just some jerkoff complaining about spikemarks in the greens.:)

Tiger is done. I don't believe he'll be living in the street anytime soon, but now he's just a golfer. Also remember that a big part of golf is honesty and sportsmanship, ie, calling penalties on yourself.

Just before his fall from grace, tiger gave an interview with a journalist from NZ where he said his family came first and means everything to him. So much for his integrity, character, and reputation, which is the only thing any of us have anyway.:)

Exactly. LA's legacy was his tireless work on behalf of Cancer Research. It's one thing to be asked to leave cycling but profiteering on the backs of others is something Tiger didn't do (not talking about his sex life) and he is now just a golfer. The community of charities and researchers around LA's "efforts" will assure the truth gets known if he's a proven profiteer which could be much worse than Tiger's future.

Here is the latest write-up on Tiger's issues, including financial and image.

http://www.forbes.com/2010/06/25/tiger-woods-golf-course-design-business-entertainment-celeb-tiger.html?boxes=businesschannelsections

Bearing in mind his issues are crippling in terms of image, we can all agree he does not face the legal implications that Lance would should the current investigation into Lance go the way I feel it will go. Tiger is damaged but not going to be spending time being the subject of a US Federal investigation, one that could culminate with a real sentence in real jail.

Tiger's other issue is that while he's still good, he's probably starting on the downside of his career with many young golfers now coming up. He may win another major, but I'd venture to guess he'll slowly fade away. Not to obscurity, but in winnings, ratings, everything. As his reputation crumbled, his mainstream appeal crumbled as well. His name will sell much less product in the sport of golf already, but also to mainstream Nike like people. He's still getting mentioned in the news, but only because people know who he is. Even Mike Tyson's last several fights got him mentioned, regardless of how horrible he fought.

Having that shot of Phil Mickelson embracing his family after winning the Masters was priceless for golf.

Tiger is still driving the ratings of golfing events though.

In 2 years... while Tiger will have lost a boat load in his divorce, I have a feeling he'll be bringing in the same endorsement amounts he was before.

Just like Kobe rebounded from allegedly raping a girl and definitely being unfaithful, losing his "good guy" image in the process, Tiger likely will do the same. The endorsements won't be framed in the same way. He may be smiling less in his commercials... but the guy still is the only person in his sport who drives ratings... and that will bring endorsements back.

He's not really a good comparison for Lance though... while Lance is pretty much the only cyclist driving ratings in the US... the US isn't the prime target market for cycling, and in europe advertisers have a ton of options.

I don't know if I buy that comparison Kurtinsc. Recall that after Kobe's troubles some idiots were saying it gave him "street cred". The fan base, and buying clientele of the NBA is also different than golf.

As I said, I don't think he'll fade into oblivion, but I just don't see his buying power for sponsorship get anywhere near what it was.

He better. Erin's judgement was a reported $750 million. That's shy of a Billion f*cking dollars. He'll be smiling less if he doesn't perform and she gets his side of the settlement.

That's what she was asking for in the settlement. No way on G-d's green earth she will ever receive it.

I wouldn't be too sure about him sliding just yet. His 66 in the US Open proves that he is returning to form, and I think there's plenty of life in the dirty dog yet.....

Not commenting on his rattlesnake morals, I just think he is capable of winning til he's 40 and beyond.

Yes, that's exactly right.

All his pretensions to some kind of "class" have been exposed. The guy has absolutely nothing to say on any subject except golf and he's not too happy to talk about that other than to spout his pre packagaged nonsense.

The popularity that Tiger has retained isn't due to anyone with a fully formed thought in their head. The same holds true for the attraction to Pharmstrong, although he's somewhat brighter than Tiger.

Do you remember how he drove the ball in 2000? He wasn't in one single bunker in the Open and won that and the U.S. Open by crazy margins.

Even though Ames got his a$s kicked by Woods in that match play thing, he was entirely right that Woods was hitting the ball everywhere with his driver.

He can't hit the ball straight with that Haney swing, and I think the Harmon swing was hurting his left knee.

He's been winning with lousy driving stats for a while now! Still wins, which shows how good his short game and particularly his putting within 15 feet is!

PGA golfers are all d-bags...At any given opportunity they sing their love for Ronald Reagan and Jesus, which gets them weekly corporate outing appearance fees of 100k and they don't even need to practice.. They all tell stupid false stories about their humble beginnings walking from their trailer park to the country club where they caddied and where they found their love for the game of golf..bwahahaaaaaa The only ones that do well are just bored and decide to actually apply themselves a little.
