If Froome wins the 2014 Tour hypothetically then I cant deny hes ways ahead of Valverde

A reasonable take but you're obviously stirring it. Also it's unacceptable. I like Bala, but Froome not so much.
Valverde is ranked higher than Coppi, Gimondi, Nibali any many other riders who have better palmares. And we'll never hear the end of it.

I don't know about that. 2014 Nibali was head and shoulders above any other GC version of Nibali.
I don't see how they put enough time into him to claw back what they already lost.

But if Froome didn't crash (which was the premise of the game), he only lost a few seconds in stage 2.

He would, admittedly, probably have lost something on the cobbles without incidents, but 2013-2015 Froome was a difficult opponent.

Nibali doesn't have a better palmares...

Yeah Nibali was quite lucky that Froome and Contador crashed out, too bad Valverde wasn't there to seize the opportunit... oh wait, he actually was.
But finishing fourth is almost as good as winning, who cares about the Tour de France when you have 5 Fleche Wallone victories and more PCS points!

Lol, who says that? Valverde was massively disappointing that Tour, it was a travesty that he didn't get his podium there.

Everyone at the time was picking him as finishing second after the crashes. Especially with the lead he had on Peraud. After that many on here were saying he never will podium the Tour.
Yes, which was the logical conclusion with Quintana being held back that year, Contador and Froome crashing, Pinot and Bardet emerging etc etc. Then he went on to ride one of his best Vueltas that same year, and if Froome and Contador doesnt crash out of the Tour, he most likely wins that Vuelta. Next year, podium, ahead of Nibali who basically put all his eggs in the Tour de France-basket while Valverde was toying with people in the Ardennes and other spring races earlier in the season.

And the year after he should've won the Giro if only they could close that gap on the descent off Agnello. 10 seconds.

5 Fleche Wallone wins is an all-time record, nobody ever did that so many times. I'm not so sure Valverde would swap all five for anything, even the Tour itself!

Yeah, like I already wrote on the last page, this forum and especially Valverde fans massively overrate niche aspects/races of this sport. It's like claiming a football player would take winning the Eredivisie 5 times over winning the Champions League once.

Football analogies rarely work well on cycling.

As much as it pains me to admit, I think Valverde has the better palmares. Winning monuments, a GT and a WC is impressive enough. But also still being a top 5 threat in classics, monuments and week-long races for 20 years is just ridiculous...

The gap was the same at the top of Agnello as at the bottom of Risoul.

He would have to have been as strong as Chaves that day, but he clearly wasn’t.

Well if you think that Tour is everything, I guess you're relatively new to cycling. I'll tell you a little secret, it's not! Not even close...
