Evans, VdB, Gesink, Wiggins, even Leipheimer, are better than him on TT and climbing (these years...)

no, because Andy and Gesink can climb better than these guys, Nibali can descend better, but Menchov... was a good allrounder, now he's a normal TTer and a normal climber...

I don't think he's riding. But yeah, if he is he clearly showed at the Dauphine he's a great uphill sprinter, and even though he was useless at the Giro, he should lead the team

if you remove all the mountains and the TTs and put time bonus at the end of the stages, even Cav can win... but there is nothing you can do to let Menchov win it...

I classify this as an uphill sprint

How could you call him useless at the giro. He was a fantastic help to rod, and he had a couple of very strong days after working most of the day for rod.

Because he wasn't really there for J-Rod most of the time, especially towards the end, dropping off at the foot of every climb, sometimes making it back on the flat.

Because Menchov didnt produce as good results in Gts as he has the years before.
And I know there are reasons for like he wasnt motivated and he was strong in the last week of the Vuelta etc.
But the undelying fact was that he wasnt capable of putting himself to that GT winning level as otherwise he would have.

Well before TDF that year he was 25th at Dauphine, slightly better in ITTs at Dauphine, but not great. Not great at Romanide and Cassila Leon either. This year he's also been fighting knee injury, so this is his first real race for a while
