Based on the profile and the weather forecast, this (unfortunately) will be one for the sprinters. Kristoff, Degenkolb, Cavendish, perhaps Demare. And of course Sagan.

Hope this is the last time without Le Manie. It's also about time they tried to include Pompeiana.

Well, Cav was sick at Tirreno and if he does not feel better in a few days, he will have problems at MSR. That could well be a chance for Kwiatkowski and/or Stybar. Other than that I predict Kristoff winning ahead of Cavendish.

If Sagan is in any break no-one's going to work just to drag him to the line and get second, same if Kristoff is there. I think it'll either be someone we wouldn't expect or one of the real sprinters (including Degenkolb, Sagan and Kristoff). I'd ideally like to see Cav of Sagan take it.

Anyone who can hold Cancellara's wheel will get a tactics-free tow to the last km. That's just how he rolls.

Not anymore, no.

I'm hoping Cav wins, but with him sick recently I think Kristoff could beat him in a sprint. Of course Fabian will keep his tradition of getting onto the podium in the monuments. I don't think Degenkolb will even be top 5. I personally haven't been very impressed with his sprinting, positioning, or timing recently.

Do you live in 2012?

I'm thinking the time is ripe for Degenkolb this year. I don't know why, I'm just feeling it

The thing is, Degenkolb hasn't been sprinting that well this year. And beating Kristoff after 300 km's? Good luck (just take a look at last year's MSR or last year's Worlds). That said, Degenkolb is the second biggest favorite to win, especially since he climbs a lot better than Kristoff.

Yeah Fabian has realized the inefficiency of that tactic. Nobody, except maybe GVA or Gilbert could seriously consider attacking on Poggio

Who will look after Kristoff on the Poggio San Remo? Otherwise I see Stybar or Lobato having a go at this. GVA for 2nd

Luca Paolini, just like last year. Lobato is good pick indeed, he could surprise

Gilbert flying under the radar, making a huge move on poggio with confusion and looking about in the chase group, yes one can dream (!!).

Can't see that happening, Gilbert really had decent form late last year at the worlds and lombardy. But every single attack of his was marked and chased down.
Don't see them letting him go this year, he has too much history behind him.

Agreed. I really hope we can get some kind of action - anything but a bunch sprint would be nice.

I almost hope there will be a HUGE bunch sprint. That would be the best incentive for RCS to make some changes next year.

I wonder why they removed Le Manie, it was usually more impactful than Cipressa. And I hope that there will be landslides around Pompeiana, I don't want to see another ardennes race.

It won't be an another Ardennes race if they add only Pompeiana.

An option could be Le Manie - Pompeiana - Poggio, that is without Cipressa. Pompeiana is slightly steeper than Cipressa and the distance to Poggio is somewhat shorter. 14 km between the top of Pompeiana to the top of Poggio, and 16 km between the top of Cipressa and the top of Poggio. That would create more chances to attack before Poggio.

I agree we don't need a "harder" race at the end of the parcours. Instead Le Manie adds toughness exactly where its needed most in MSR: mid section.

I would vote other. There are plenty of teams, event among them are multiple favorites (etixx, astana...)
But if I would have to pick one rider, I'd go for a dark horse like kwiatkowski.
