How much today's TTT will cost Martin ? Wiggins day was quite relaxed and the race is in 2 days (rest days)

I'd say it could do nothing but benefit him. The level these guys are at, even a FTP effort they will start to recover almost as soon as they jump off the bike. I bet he'll be doing a couple of hours morning and afternoon today even, then some seriously hard efforts the day before the TT.

In my opinion Martin's and Canc's leadup will be better than Wiggin's, at this level being a protected GC rider sitting in the Peloton on flat days they can actually detrain. Although I imagine he's done a bit of overload then used the ToB as "maintenance", with a few max efforts (the TT) to keep the form. Although I imagine this method would be considered "old school" by the Sky swimming coach, so they probably do something completely different. (Maybe oldschool is better since everyone apart from Froome/Porte/Wiggo seems to be completely overtrained).

Don't forget Wiggins has a flight, has to change his hotel and has to cross a time zone.

I think that is going to be far more tiring than the entire ToB. I recover from a 7 hour training session quicker than a days travel, that totally mentally and physically drains me. Probably different if you're getting chauffeured around though.

Can we just do a National Teams TT.

I would like to see if Australia could take it. And I wonder which nation/s would challenge Australia.

Unlikely to happen I would say, who would be called the team time trial champions during the year? It would have to be individual riders across different trade teams. Having only certain members of a trade team being the team time trial champions doesn't make much sense.

The six winners from a trade team could also transfer to all different teams, and the title would be spread around. Difficult to avoid.

National TTT must have such a failure that the UCI ditched it for 17 years before it returned in the current Trade TTT form.

But easier to avoid with trade teams. Almost impossible with national teams.
