Its not quite fair to say he has suddenly developed so late in his career. If you split his career on road and track his focus on the road career is also pretty late. He didnt really give road priority until after 2008 (? ish) so it could be expected that his road craft might develop more despite him being relatively old in terms of a pro.

I am a brit and I dont want to sound too biased however the track regime has always been very anti doping and this may have fed through into the riders when they turned pro. Genuine question not sarcastic, has any one who came from the GB track set up tested positive?

Everyone says they're very anti-doping.

So wiggins is clean?

Why does saying you hate doping suddenly absolve you of any suspicion? I don't have a personal issue with Wiggins, but I think if we are suspicious of Gilbert, Boonen, Cancellara, we should treat everyone the same. (Which means : "amazing" performance => ask some questions)

It doesn't but some seems like they are giving him a pass. So i ask in the interest of the cycling nation :D

Anyway Wiggins has been outspoken on a lot of dopers in the past, like Vino, Rasmussen and Di Luca. He even called Di Luca a w***** on twitter when he was found positive for CERA. He even went on to say in the British media that cheats should be locked up and said David Millar shouldnt be allowed to ride in the Olympics. I think he should be praised for his stance on the issue and not people throwing unnecessary suspicion on him.

What about his praise for lance though ?

I saw his 1 hour video from 2007, it was impressive, but ripping easy targets like vino Di luca etc is only half the battle (esp for an English rider) if 2 years later he is trying to be best friends with lance Armstrong who if i remember correctly is next to him on the cover of his book.

Does it matter? Can we make judgements on the level of cleanliness in the sport based on one individual? Doping is a collective problem, one subject being clean (or dirty) doesn't tell us much about the broader picture, does it?

I guess given the history of cycling, even recent history, there are always folks willing to give a rider a pass based on "insert reasons here". Others think anyone who improves must be doping. However, some riders seem to improve on what are typically considered mutually exclusive fronts (time trialing and climbing and attacking and excellent recovery). Time and time again, there are strong "reasons" provided for this - more dedication, weight loss, better position, high cadence, but the rider still pops a postive. Herras and Contador come to mind, mainly because I enjoyed watching them race. How about Ras in 2007? Went from falling off his TT bike to passing a number of others.

True, but sometimes discussions arise about particular riders because they attract attention.

So Wiggins or the guy defending Wiggins, when can I meet up with you guys? Last time I saw you in a race you were being a ****** and no one was allowed to go near you. How can I say it in your face then?

Also, I have more balls than a certain friend of you Wiggo. But he's clean right? Nice book cover by the way, totally not hypocritical. #sarcasm

Next time don't pick on easy targets like Vinokourov or Di Luca, but go after the real big dopers in the world of cycling. One in particular. Or don't you have the balls for that?

There are plenty of people on this forum that don't think Di Luca should still be riding, my self included. Look better next time.

Why can`t people just enjoy what he is doing at the moment?

Yee don`t have a shred of evidence to back up yere insinuations about doping. He speaks out a lot more on doping issues then a lot of other riders yet he still gets questioned. I never hear anything anti-doping from Valverde, Vino, Contador and Di Luca.

You see him ridiculously getting called out on this forum over possible doping, yet Vino, Basso, Di Luca, Valverde and Contador get a lot easier ride. These guys are convicted cheats yet people love to question the integrity of Wiggins. That can`t be right. In my time on this forum I have never seen a post criticising a rider like Di Luca who does`nt have the best interests of this sport at heart.

I think he has every right to be p***** off about all of this.

Altleast my problem with Wiggins is that he speaks out against some people, while still for some reason supports Lance. If he just didn't give a ****, or took it out on everyone i would be just fine with him.

Everyone is doping, but it is just much more fun to say it about anglos since they are supposed to be so clean :D

I have a few things I'd like to say to Wiggins seeing as he blocked me on twitter.
You talk of cowardice, yet you never had the balls to come out against AC, Lance, Valverde, Schleck, Valverde etc. You kick them when they are down like Ricco and Landis. That's just a bully. Once you started saying things like 'this is how Lance did it' you are just another piece of sh** cyclist who is part of the problem. And Bradley, you cycled with alot of former USP guys, so you knew full well what went on.
But yeah it's easier to attack them when they are suspended and can't get near you, that takes alot of courage.

Di Luca is not talked about much because there's no controversy about him - he was doped to the gills. Wiggins, whether he dopes or not, is a hypocrite, and that's enough to criticize him.

People need to stop this selectivism about doping and who they criticise. I am Irish and fully admit Roche and Kelly were doped.
In fairness to Kelly, when he is commentating and a positive is announced, he just goes silent, which I actually respect. Because at least he's not being a hypocrite.
Roche still claims his blood was given for research purpose.

I think anyone who looks up to any cyclist is on very thin ground and should be prepared to learn the truth and not bury their heads in the sand.

Woohoo, we are important enough to be called ****ers.

There's no greater honor for me personally.

I would hope Wiggins is clean, but questioning him is not unreasonable. Oh well, maybe we'll get an answer in the next 15 years or so.
