One of the worst for was when Lemond claimed Armstrong offered someone working in cycling $300,000 to come out public and say he used EPO.

That just shows you how much he will do to protect his empire.

The fact that there's has been absolutely no ever in cycling to claim that he did proves the point.

Armstrong has people lining up to tell the drug stories. But of course they're all bitter.

I'm curious, was that claim substantiated by someone else? There are so many stories thrown about that after enough telling become accepted "facts" I'm wondering if this is one of those or is there verification, and I'm way to lazy to research it. Any idea?

That amount sounds like he offered it in an infomercial

Yes, I believe the bounty would have been paid out in 3 easy installments by LA. But, if the evidence was not sufficiently damming, then LA could opt out in 30 days if he wasn't completely satisfied.

That's almost as good a deal as a slap chop

I think it was a statement that LA made about he would bet or offer someone 30,000.00 to show that Lemond doped. I am not sure either. Hope this helps you and Chris out.

All that can be made with three easy payments and one very hard payment to make. It will get lost in the mail and be returned due to lack of postage.

as with anything......

Prices and participation may vary.

And I'm not participating in ****.

Because he is the ******bag's ******. The absolute freaking king. Back in the day, at one of my branch locations, the local director put posters up in the meeting room of "successful athletes."
They were, drum roll please: Lance, Barry Bonds, Tiger Woods, Kobe Bryant and Clemens.

I should add that at his last Tour prior to retirement the organisors gave the winner the microphone for a farewell speech. He could have been humble and thank the race and his organisers. But no. He decided to pretend he was clean and lash out at those who criticised him. Shameful knowing what we know now.

AArrgh....!!! Don't get me all fired up again about that. :D

Yes, that angry back-at-you contempt of everyone who's crossed him is what raises my dislike level. It feels like there is no 'niceness' but only vitriol and 'paybacks' that comes out in his personality.

Several people have talked about remembering lemond as a junior and young senior amateur. Not only was he a nice guy, but they remember the sheer talent that was awe-striking to witness.

What I remember about Armstrong, was that he was just a complete and utter turd. And a talented rider. In that order. Armstrong always reminded me of the boorish idiot football players that I was happy to ditch each day after school in favor of training for a real sport.

Probably the most naturally gifted turd for his era if not of all time.

I remember him as being very talented but inconsistent. I remember many other riders who were perhaps less genetically gifted, but far more consistent due to a very strong work ethic. Greg McNeil comes to mind.

Armstrong would produce these stellar wins "every so often", but the turd-factor always remained a constant.

Anyone who wins 7 Tours is going to be unpopular with many. Add in all the other stuff then there's your answer! :(

Some people had seen enough before TdF #3 came along. I was not one, BTW. Had he quit winning (stealing) there but hang around and be the same yallow turd, I am not sure the hate would be any less. Ulrich in his modesty won one and people are already pretty opiniated about him. Oh, McFloyd an even better example.

No need for the turd-factor to go upward after winning your first tour though.
