Why is Lance Armstrong so Hated?

This place is scary. So much hate for a guy who has done so much. But it worries me that the things being said here are true. My nephew wears a Livestrong wristband. Do I tell him that Lance is a bad person. Why would a guy who won seven Tours continue to dope. It makes no sense to me. :(

Lance is the John Edwards of cycling. Both are narcissists and will not stop until they are caught. They don't make decisions like normal people. Their lack of empathy, sense of entitlement, and need for affirmation causes them to do things that seem to be irrational.

Edwards has been exposed for the weasel that he is, and he is now universally despised. Let's hope that Armstrong meets a similar fate.

Aww Patrick now tell me, YOU would not do that to a woman would you??
I think you would be magnanimous and buy the nice folks a treat, maybe even an early baby gift?

Equal rights to me would mean Lance should have stuffed in a few extra pounds of cake to add some bulk in his designer jeans and then squeezed himself into a coach seat. ;) :D

ok, i admit i might have done differently. i'd certainly spring for first class for everyone (although i'd reserve the right to call her dumplin and ask her to fetch me a beer) :D

not the biggest schumacher fan here, but senna did exactly the same thing to prost and people still praise him to this day.

Mistake there... Prost did the same thing to Senna and then when Senna still managed to win the race and be in with a chnace of the championship, the FIA - Balastre (sp?) created a bizare interpretation of the rules and disqualified him. The following year, the situation was reversed and even though Senna was on pole they put pole on the dirty side of the track giving Prost the advantage. Prost opened the door on the first corner and when Senna moved forward to take it Prost closed the door again - racing accident.

Meanwhile:
Shumacher's Benneton still had traction control after it was banned.
They repeatedly breached the minimum ride hight rules
Michael punted Hill to break his car.
He punted Villeneuve.
He faked a stall at Monaco to stop Alonso qualifying on pole.
The effort on Barrichello..
...The list is endless really...

Anyway, all I am saying - and it was kind of proved here in the first reactions - is that the further we get away from events the less negative they appear because new people coming along only believe the BS propaganda and have no experience of the cheating, etc.

That was to cover th injection marks. White socks tended to leave blood spots from the injection point. After a while you have to go to the vain in your ankle as your arm gets very tender and it's too easily sighted.

Hahahahaha, very amusing.

Before you guys accuse me, Im not a fan of lance armstrong, never was.
I am pretty new to cycling, only started watching in 2009. However after being in the forum for the past few years. I have realised that 99% of the posters hate lance armstrong greatly. Is it because of the accusations against him of doping?? Or is it people don't like his personality??
Because other accused dopers are not hated as much around here such as Ricco, Rasmussen, Vino.

A long history and an accumulated reputation for being worthy of dislike. Even if you only began wathing him in the late 90's, you can see that "kitten-kicking" tendency. He takes things very personally, and uses his power in the industry to take personal matters outside the sphere of racing and into personal lives. He not only needs to win, but he needs to thoroughly win. JV, Tyler and Floyd can all attest to how the relationships changed when they had the audacity to change teams. Lance is a practitioner of unprecedented "bossism". The Jabba the Hut of bike racing.

Hmmm. Do you have any pictures of Armstrong which show needle marks?

Lance posted a picture of needle marks on twitter awhile back. After a botched blood sample extraction. USADA maybe? Gross picture. Lance BTW is the most tested athlete ever, with ample needle marks to prove it. Plus, IV's were legal when Lance was riding. Plenty of legal IV hydration going on.

Now if you wanted to hide a needle mark - where would you hide it? If you wanted to hide a tree, where would it? In the forest or out in the desert? out in the desert under a black tent?

I agree. He's not as witty as he once was. I always laughed a lot at some of the remarks but they're not as acerbic as they used to be and have lost the "Curb your enthusism" styled edge.

The Hog, how many times does Lance need to clarify the situation? He has consistently clarified it at least a thousand times. Maybe more than a thousand. Most Consistenty Clarified Athlete of All Times. And the Fed investigation confirmed it. Do you need CAS to confirm it too? Can you move on after a CAS ruling? No moving till then? Sit tight.

Even those are getting old and stale.

How many times can you go to the "Most...(fill in the blank)...athlete" or any variation on "1,2,3,4,5,6,7" or "onetwothreefourfivesixseven" cards?

It's about as new and refreshing as a Don Rickles appearance on the tonight show...

I think it coincides with Lance moving from the denial stage to the say nothing (as it might drop my **** in a quintuplet suit) stage..... there's no new material coming from Lance. The comedy of denial has gone unfortunatly.

How many tests?

Hundreds, maybe thousands.
Most tested athlete ever.

Even Chuck Norris hasn't had as many tests. Lance has had more. 500,000 at last count.
You guys forgot one - making the yellow jersey fetch water bottles and musettes. Victor Hugo Pena has a once in a career opportunity (for the vast majority) and he can't even have one day on a flat sprinters stage to enjoy it. One of his lowest sporting acts IMO.

Pena was booted from the team for his efforts as well.

Also there was chasing down Contador with Kloden on Verbier then claiming he was a bad team mate. They was fairly low.

Apparently his urine is so powerful it eats the EPO molecules before it can be detected.

He has a hemocrit of 127% and Vo2 Max of 10,000.

Actually, Chuck Norris' hematocrit is so incredibly high naturally, that taking EPO would actually lower it.

I'll pay that! Best one so far!

I read once that Bruyneel was able to keep the entire USPS team charged for 7 straight Tour's on one Chuck Norris blood bag.
