Even Fry keeps up with the times. Old crank asked, "It has been quite an eventful last few days.
I think we need a poll to choose the No. 1 power couple in London for the last week."

You significantly failed this time, Wildean drollery or not. Actually I don't think it was!

What an exciting AntiDope Hero. You gots to love that quote.

enama's the new thing in marginal gains!

What is really interesting is the quote

‘please don’t use this anymore’.

Now what could that be, I wonder?
And why wasn't he asked??

But to keep smoking the spliffs.

With UKAD testing the Russian samples, they'll too busy to catch home grown athletes so Wiggins can dope to is little hearts content.

Well even if most of the GB media are falling over themselves to get a trip on the Sky bus or a ride with Chris Froome the Daily Mail seem to know what is really going on. One day - three pages slagging off the IOC and WADA's pathetic response to the Stepanova's whilstloblowing.

Then they did a story of Michele, baby Kellan and Chris with a photo, a virtual reprise of the one of Lance and one of his wives and baby at the finish of the Tour. But not content with leaving that marker, for all who follow the sport, they put a pointer in the middle of the "feel-good" Froome story, "Wiggins charity cash riddle".

And there was a two page spread getting stuck into the gallant knight - Sir Bradley.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3706092/Why-did-Wiggins-charity-money-cycling-superstars-Olympic-hero-Bradley-Wiggins-vowed-charity-focus-poor-children-investigation-reveals-gave-money-team-mates-son-s-rugby-team.html

Why did Wiggins' charity give money to cycling superstars? Olympic hero Bradley Wiggins vowed his charity would focus on poor children. But this investigation reveals it gave money to team-mates and his son's rugby team

"Fans spent at least £345,000 supporting The Bradley Wiggins Foundation
Told their money would benefit poor children and 'help find next Wiggins'
So much spent on fundraisers that £58,000 was left for charitable grants
Much was given to Sir Bradley's Olympic gold medal-winning team-mates
Some of the money was also used to buy new kits for his son's rugby team
Foundation is winding down after the Charity Commission raised concerns

So the only competitive sporting recipients for the little left after "expenses" had been removed above the bottom line were Laura Trott, Dani King and Joanna Rowsell, Brad's son's rugby team and ex pro cyclist Kieran Fend ! The Mail readers in the comments section seem to have it dialed that this does not constitute support for "grass roots" sports development; "Another Sir Shifty" got 14 up votes and only 2 down votes.

£594 per ticket to dine with Sir Bradley and a table of 12 costing £14,340 now that is kicking the backside out of it, You need one hell of an ego to show up to that event named after you - particularly if you state as Sir Bradley did "It can grow into something where it's raising hundreds of thousands each year and we can give that hundreds of thousands to sporting projects across the country. It is not about becoming Olympic champions or winning the Tour de France. It could be something like under-privileged kids going to Manchester Velodrome for the day and getting on the track.

"A five course dinner was punctuated with drinking games. Shot glasses bearing Sir Bradley's name had been made for each guest.
"Sir Chris Hoys' wife Sarra took a photo of a shot glass and tweeted 'Drinking games at the #yellowball. Class act or what ?"

Loved the deep sarcasm in the tone of the single positive element of support they gave Sir Bradley "A representative of the local rugby league club confirmed to the Mail that the team team Sir Bradley's son played for was sponsored by the charity . he added: 'Bradley's a great bloke.'

Well Lady Sarra Hoy might think drinking games at a dinner to which the invites were cards to which were stuck sticking out sideburns and drinking games, are "class" my own wife had a rather different view. On this occasion I am with the Mail readers and going to take my hat off to the Mail reporting team for having more balls than the rest of of the BS sporting media who both promulgate and authenticate the Sky BS.

I wonder what happened to the plan to allow the underprivileged kids a day on the track at the Velodrome ? Presumably the British Cycling Senior coach had a gentle word - something along the lines of "First you clog up the track with f***g gimps and f*****g wobblies now its f***g ****** ! You can shove that plan up your ***e!"
He's Australian don't you know, we have to make allowances, he is a good bloke really. Just wait until he gets the all clear and his hand is back on the tiller. (Did BC CEO and ex Team Sky Board member Ian Drake ever give a plausible reason why he didn't know his most important member of staff was still getting a second salary from Sky ?)

An interesting (and scary) article but nothing to do with doping so why is it here?

Poor Brad.
Would never dope. Wouldn't risk it and wouldn't be able to look his wife and kids in the eyes no more if he lied to them.

As a clean rider, how hard have you found it to deal with the issue of drugs in cycling?

"I find it incredibly difficult, I don't mind admitting that. What angers me is that I feel I have to justify my position now and what I am achieving. I understand why people ask the questions they do about cycling, but for me, personally, it is something I struggle to cope with and to keep responding to. I feel uncomfortable being the voice of today's riders, like I am having to atone for the sins of another generation."

Get me a bucket!!!

Why oh why did the journo not enquire as to why Bruyneel was a champagne-swilling guest at Wiggo's Hour event?

Interesting how he blames "another generation". The top 3 of the 2009 Giro all got suspended. 4 others in the top ten are confirmed dopers, actually served a suspension for doping, not even counting Rogers who is a 99% confirmed doper. That was a month before Wiggins turned into a world class GT rider. Very different generation indeed.

Quite right. I remember that generation. The good old days when riders were doped to the gills. Here's a typical photo: Schleck, Contador, Armstrong, Schleck and some Garmin rider. A who's who of doping.

(As an aside, Contador really did look completely different climbing back then compared to what he looks like now)

Wasn't Wiggins also involved in a celebrity tax avoidance scheme?

D. Millar was involved in a tax scheme and got indicted for it in 2004.
But tax evasion is something he never openly talked about, not even in his book, to my knowledge, so I guess he just continued with it after 2004 and may have taught Wiggins a trick or two.

Yes, along with just about every high earning celeb in the UK. No surprise if you're going to be taxed at 50%. I'm not sure which one it was but they are all pretty similar - use existing schemes / reliefs and artificially manufacture a situation to generate a tax loss to offset against other taxes payable. Not illegal but heavily frowned upon - usually ruled out by HMRC when they get wind of it.
