I think its time for everyone to move on from Wiggins, stop the relentless bashing, he's no longer a threat to the Giro. If you're a Nibali fan, I'd concentrate more on Evans who will tear Vinnie a new one

He is still a threat, long way to go and the Giro is very unpredictable, plus there is another TT. I'm not writing him off yet! Tomorrow will show if he is still in the game, I think he will be after the rest day to get his head together.

Just chatting to Wiggins - says toughest part of race to come and he has to make it as hard for Nibali as he made it for Wiggo to win

I hope Wiggo makes it harder than Nibali made it for him at tour, or Wiggo has no chance

So, he in fact already has given up.

Nibali 'attacked' twice last Tour, one time he got fished up by Portie, the other one was after the Time Trial when he was basicly toasted, out of contention bar crashes/illness etc etc.

Co-sign. Writing Wiggins off just now is pathetic anyway. Two more weeks to race. If it continues raining he might get into big trouble. Otherwise he will show some potential in the high mountains imo.

Let's just see how the race will be ridden...I hope for some fireworks and also expect an outsider to emerge.

What is pathetic is his descending. You can’t have the winner of the Giro descending like that.

Won’t happen and won’t win.

Wiggins sure looks like an epic fail now. Probably not still talking smack about doubling with the Tour De France? :)

I think he expected the Giro to just be handed to him on a silver platter. If sky allowed, it seems probable that two of his teammates will be ahead of him by end of the race.

Nibali is no Contador so this race isn't over. Wiggo has been telling us for a couple months how great he is climbing this year so now will see if that is all talk or not. Wiggins doesn't seem to handle adversity really well.

I think Wiggo looks fragile mentally. He expected [and I think he even said it explicitly] to have couple of minutes lead after ITT. Not only that didn't happen, he is behind. And it's not only Nibali he has to worry about.
Of course it's too early to say who will win, but from what we've seen so far - Wiggins isn't at his best. In fact, I am still not 100% convinced he is not using Giro to prepare for Tour...

I don't think it's a question of Wiggins not being at his best (indeed if you asked Sky before the Giro he was), but existing in the position, now, to have to attack in the mountains. ;)

Basso was a poor descender, but at least he could follow his teammate's wheel on a descent.

Indeed!

Where are Wiggins trusty allies of last year?

Bossen-Hagen, Rodgers, Porte (ignoring Froome) would all have helped him down the hills and got his confidence back up.

He's also missing a fit Cataldo, and has spent too much time training on his own in comparison with last year

He needs to learn, as Crosby Stills &Nash used to say
"if you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with"

I think wiggins has gotten to thinking he is Chuck Norris and doesn't need any help.

Is he mental? Why you think about TT when you descending? Why not just think about it on the flat roads?

"Wiggins said that the sting of the loss carried over into in Sunday’s rain-soaked stage to Florence. Instead of focusing on his job, he thought about the TT and let a gap open to overall leader Vincenzo Nibali’s (Astana) group. Wiggins caught back on and avoided losing more time, but sits fourth overall, at 1:16. He made up time on the Sicilian and the other GC contenders in Saturday’s stage, but not the minutes he had hoped for beforehand."

“Those time trials take such a mental focus. You build up for it, so intense for that one hour, then it’s over. You just don’t finish it and put it in the bin; I find it hard to forget about. I struggle with the disappointment of that,” he said. “Days like yesterday I should be getting on with it, it should be a straightforward day, but your mind is elsewhere and it ends up making the day more dramatic really.

I thinks it's showing that he *in his mind* is the best TT in the world (for god shake he is the olympic champion and all his win last year were from his TT). And the fact that he wasn't delivered *not used to fail on the discipline that he is far dominant*, kinda messed up his mind and confidence probably. His ego is bruised you know. That's probably why he can't let it go. Like I said before, he's been singing like canary so far, and very confidence but so far the result is far from what he is expected. I guess for someone who's strong mentally would say, fine. Let's move on. Instead, he is dwelling on the disappointment.

But I'm not psychologist, so who knows why wiggins was thinking about TT in a wet descent which is his weakness and not on the flat road. I suspected he might loose his motivation and start looking for reason to loose more time so he can leave:D. But astana, bmc, lampre and garmin won't let him go. Just so they can see wiggins' desceding like a girl. *priceless*:p

He appeared upbeat today. Maybe because Brailsford smacked him around last night :D

Now you peasants start addressing him appropriately.

He's Sir Bradley Marc Wiggins, Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

Never forget.

He's own borgs have turned against him.

He's not very good. Very lucky to win last year.

He'll never win another GT again. I'm sure he'll tell he can.
