this may well be the case. maybe he hasnt done the preparation to be at his best. or maybe has has a bit of a bug. or maybe both. or maybe a million other reasons. the point is life is complex. the human body is complex. cycling is complex. to make these silly sweeping generalisations like 'wiigins cant make up 2 minutes' is not helpful. of course he can. he probably wont but nothing is impossible

Another equally plausible scenario to Bradley having a good day in the mountains and Nibali/Evans etc having a bad day is that Bradley is walking down some descent, the peloton are already 5 km up the road and are directly hit by an asteroid, and Bradley wins all remaining stages, all the jerseys and the Giro.

Life can be complex when you think about it.

The guy has never before in his (admittedly short lived) career as a GC contender attacked in the mountains to my knowledge. How can you expect someone like that to pull back 2 minutes? He might take some time back in the TT but he could be 3 or 4 minutes down by the eve of the TT.

ok. first i would say basing your opinions of someone's character based solely on the media is not a good idea. you dont know wiggins as a person in private and neither do i. its very hard to come across as a perfect person when u are a famous media figure. the job of the media is to exaggerate and distort people's personality to make a better story. as for not deserving to be a knight, i would say the whole knighthood thing is a load of bollox but he didnt choose to be given it. to be honest im a bit disappointed he didnt turn it down but there you go

cheers. the media is unreliable enough even when its trying to get the facts straight. Its unfortunate how many people lazily accept media bull**** as gospel, but that is the way of the world. 'you can fool most of the people all of the time', as someone once said

Well no, the media has tried to portray wiggins as nothing less than a saint. So to say that they are responsible for the negative views of him is ridiculous. Quite the contrary actually, they are responsible for any positive opinions people may hold of him. Without the typical 'shining **** and making it look like gold' treatment given to most sports "heroes" wiggins would come off a lot lot worse.

When he gets p1ssed off its a big story. when he says something not totally diplomatically its a big story. My impression is he's a pretty decent down to earth guy but, like you, i dont know him well so i cant say for sure

Just to be fair, actually he did. Wiggins "attacked" Armstrong in the TdF 2009, but was pulled back by Klöden if I'm correct.

Its May 2013, Wiggins climbing ability in 2012 is about as relevant as his 2006 climbing ability.

Almost everyone in the top 10 is a better climber, and Wiggins will do well to stay with them.

Anything and everything is possible.

But in reality - he is now in terrain that does not suit him. And while I fully expect someone in the top 5 to have a bad day, it is unlikely that Wiggins will be the one to benefit.

i would say he is the biggest 'cycling personality' in the english-speaking media world. maybe that doesnt make him the 'biggest name' in cycling but he's up there. he is certainly under more media scrutiny than 99.9% of cyclists
