Cycling and press coverage in UK is bigger now than simply Wiggins & Sky alone. This is his lasting legacy beyond all the success. Him & Sky have switched the British public and the press onto pro cycling. 15 years ago that Guardian article would have been the sum of all press coverage for an entire Tour de France. Times have changed.

I raced against him many times in Uk. From 16 on I never saw the bloke attack ever !. I guess this is more shite to feed to naive Uk new to cycling fans.

Don't see what the fuss is about to be honest, he obviously was angry at being left out of last years Tour when his form was still good and I don't blame him really. Seems like that was the final nail in the coffin for his days at Sky and he spent the time planning this latest venture. I don't buy the BS about him attacking though.

Him being left out was his own fault. He treated Froome like ***, and then he's surprised Froome doesn't want him in the team?

I don't know wtf you are talking about, the interview is pretty decent, given Wiggins relation with the press and he says:"I attacked in Roubaix but other than that I can’t remember the last time I attacked in a race. I’m so used to riding in a defensive role so I’ll see what happens in the next few days.”

Not true,Froome was there as domestique not to win that TDF.I like Froome really, but that showboating was wrong,he put his leader and the team in a bad light.I still think it was wrong they left him out of TDF team the next year.

What has Wiggins done since 2012 that suggests it was the wrong decision not to take him to the TdF? Do you think Froome would have won it even more convincingly or spectacularly in 2013 if they had taken Wiggins? More likely it would have caused a split in the team and reduced their chances of winning.

Here's a report on a rare Wiggins attack.

More in line with his nature, he also threw a bike into the bushes after a puncture.

He gained 17 minutes over the peloton at one point in the stage

I guess that must have been back when he weighed about 95kg. If he had that kind of gap in the last three years he would have won the GC by ten minutes. Some transformation!

Wiggins was flying in 2012,now don't tell me he couldn't repeat it in 2013.The simple fact they left him out, made him not give a *** anymore as seen in Giro,i don't buy that rain BS story.Froome would have won it anyway, but i don't think is normal to let the TDF champion out of it,the team directors should have come up with a solution to the conflict imo.

I agree Sky handled the whole situation extremely poorly, however they will point out that there was no way Wiggins could beat Froome again in a fair fight. I thought the two could have worked it out and Wiggins did show last season at Cali he could have been a decent asset for Froome, although of course it didn't matter after Froomes crash.

This is not a negative thing, but following on from his break from Team Sky its interesting to note that Team Wiggins has the exact same sponsors. Sky, Jaguar, Pinnarello and Rapha.

He's probably one of only a handful of cyclist the public could name, makes good business sense to have him on their books.

So 52.924km to beat for Wiggo, hope his recent outings are not too indicative of his current shape...
