Yes, great athlete, phenomenal champion, top bloke, off the wall too which is refreshing in this "bland"/"omerta" world, but some people are just blinded by...well I'd rather not say.

LOL

just listen to his comments about landis, hamilton etc and armstrong(before getting caught). the guy is an utter tool and total idiot.

More a dislike of Wiggins and Sky I'd say.

I think its a mixture of the 'fan boys' spouting off and we Brits end up getting tarred with the same brush.

Wiggo is certainly a more intersting guy than your bland Spanish Cyclist

Good for him for sponsoring a women's team.

the thing is when on a bike contador makes wiggins look as interesting as watching paint dry and that's what counts.

I am talking about real world persona, not how you ride a bike.

This is a misconception as Wiggins isn't actually sponsoring the team with any of his own money only giving his support which is technical. Any financial support given in his name is coming from the Wiggins foundation started this summer.

I can't believe i am defending Velasco but riding their bike is their profession so real world persona is not that important..or maybe they are important too.I am not really sure :D :p

even then wiggins isn't all that interesting either, this season was a show of awkward interviews and attempts to be funny (which he isn't, unlike people like cavendish and jens) and his life story isn't that interesting either.

and i am going out on a limb here and say you never saw an interview in spanish with contador so you are judging from what he says either at the end of races or when talking on a foreign language so you are being unfair.

for all that's worth it one of the funniest things i have seen on an cycling interview, was contador explaining on spanish television how do cyclists pee on the move on crowded areas.

i saw it live back then but if you search "contador el hormiguero" you should be able to find it.

he also enters the show at the sound of the danish anthem but i doubt the new generation of cycling experts would know why.

you obviously don't know spanish and have never seen or heard an interview with contador or purito

To be honest it was more a bit of a wind up to your average wiggo haters,

but on a seriousnote I do find wiggo quite an interesting a complex character.

Wiggins in hospital after being hit by van, no news on how serious yet (from Lancashire evening post on twitter)
