World Championships 2023: Womens Elite Road Race. Loch Lomond - Glasgow 154km

That was later, when there was actual racing going on. I mean the riders getting dropped almost instantly.

yep there were a couple riders who got dropped within 1km of the start, as the rest were just rolling through pace at that stage, I dont know if theyve abandoned already, its difficult because Id hate to see rules restricting which nations/riders can take part, especially in womens pro cycling.

But then you do have to query what the value is to them just riding a couple of kms in a race like this.

Must be soul destroying, perhaps there should be a 'B' race.
Three riders only managed two laps before being pulled out in the womens moutain bike race yesterday.
It's more common at the Olympics but you do see this fairly frequently, where there are 'pop-up' races that are set up or announced after most of the top teams have set their calendars, and those races tend to have the specific goal of qualifying riders for the Olympics or Worlds. The other thing that is not uncommon is if those riders are based out of the UK or France or somewhere like that but their birthplace or heritage enables them to compete for another country, they can enter under that country's flag in order to be able to say they competed at a World Championship.

how so ? Id be amazed if Lizzie won, Georgi is the GB focus I would presume based on what weve seen so far, and wont have to do any sprint lead outs for anyone
As long as Lizzie is still riding she is plan A, to Lizzie at least. And to be honest my mind will be blown if the British team have come up with a plan that doesn't revolve solely around Lizzie, it'll be the first time since about 2010.

How so is simply that I would prefer Wiebes or Kopecky to win than Lizzie, and Samu is well aware that I have little love lost for either.
