Not a shot in something like this he would imo barely be a weak domestique if strong enough for that. The guy has 2 GT and zero top 10 in monuments id say a hard pass on that. In GT yes indeed he is second best.

Vingegaard can win any important stage race, Remco has only shown ability to win hilly races. Can't win strade, cobbled classics, Lombardia is a mistery for me, so he is not that versatile in one day races. And he still has to prove he can win GT's consistently

Dont forget that he also can't win any race that requires above average bike handling and agility.

Healy seems to be under the odds. Looking at today's mixed ITT route suggests this is a tough route for the men's race.
Comments like this seem so strange I don’t know if you’re kidding. But even if we accepted that he “can only win hilly races” . . . That’s what this WC is?
By your view Pogacar “can’t win” KBK, Omloop, Roubaix . . . Because he hasn’t done them yet.

The hype is pretty big but such hyped races can also disappoint spectacularly. Finally we need a proper Pogi vs Remco battle. MVP is obviously one of the best one-day racers of this century so he can't be neglected. Ala, who in his prime was a monster on such courses, is also in decent shape. Rogla is an interesting x-factor. Hopefully the race will deliver!

Don't think, that Roglic will a big factor. He has the vuelta in his legs and in the TT on sunday he didn't look good..

I think it's reasonable to question his ability to win Strade, given his history and bike handling challenges. But to say he "can't" win it is ridiculous, it's all fixable. He's getting a lot better, clearly.
Absolutely can win Flanders and likely win Lombardia at some point. Roubaix I just don't see him tackling.

Think Mohoric being out and Tratnik looking average in Canada should change the tactics for Slovenia, they just don't have really anyone to make it hard enough without Roglic acting as a domestique, rather than him just marking Evenepoel. He should probably just be the last man hardpulling but I don't think he will do it, hopefully not anyway because I love some inter-team drama.
They might have to rely on other teams, but I think Belgium getting some believable guys in a move can create real problems for them, Novak is alright to set a tempo but they have nobody like Adam Yates or Almeida with the top end other than Roglic.

Yes, I overlooked the fact that Evenepoel was only world champion for ten months, so his Vuelta and his WC ITT don't count. That means Sagan was indeed the best world champion of this century during his first reign.
I only looked at this century. If you include the previous century Merckx '71-'72, Maertens '76-'77 and Hinault '80-'81 would be the best.

How could his Vuelta ever have counted? It was the '23 Vuelta that was weirdly placed in relation to Worlds, not the '22 one.

I meant his three stage wins in the Vuelta '23 and his world title ITT. If those counted he would easily beat Sagan's 2016 season. I just overlooked the fact that he wasn't world champion anymore when he won those, so Sagan clearly had the best season in the rainbow jersey.

What? Remco is most definitely the better overall rider. Vingegaard's claim to fame is stage racing and especially GTs, but he's not even the best in GTs anymore while Remco is pretty much beasting it across the board the past 2 years.

Is Nibali better than Froome or Contador? Of course not so no one can ever claim Remco is better than Vingegaard.

Sure, if we are gonna ignore time trials, the 2022 Vuelta and GT stage wins. Remco is a much better rouleur, time trialist and one day rider. The difference in palmares, despite Jonas winning 2x Tour, is quite telling in terms of big wins right now. Second best rider in the world, no contest IMO.
