If twice the size is better, then we'd really be in good shape now if the stimulus was three time bigger. And why stop there?

Oh yeah, even the Chinese have figured out they will never get their money back.

THAT'S how the conservatives plan on managing the national debt. World War 3. John Wayne vs John Wang.

Oh yes they will. Talk about boom and bust, that is an economy ripe for a blow-up of epic proportions. Their time will come, all we have to do is wait. And when it happens, we will pay off pennies to the dollar.

In all seriousness, I'm sorry to hear that. Makes us all look bad.

And I recognize that is not the case elsewhere. As I said, there are legitimate criticisms to be made about Obama. And not everyone who says "socialist" is doing so because they are racist. I have friends who sincerely believe it, but they are from NY, and also happen to be extremely conservative banking types. To them, Ronald Reagan was a bit too socialist.

Also, I live just across the border from South Carolina...it has some beautiful places.....and some seriously racist people. Come to think of it, I have relatives in eastern NC who are just as bad. They didn't talk to my mother for years because back in 1968, she said that she didn't mind teaching black children.

Buck that is an outstanding stance to talk and type slow. It may help. The DOW and the S&P are great tools. People trading are important components of the economy. What happened recently was they were the economy. You probably read a thing or 2 about the "bubble" not the kind in the bathtub. Joe 6 packs connection with the stock market is probably what has underpinned the US's decline in the worlds market. Other major markets want to ditch the dollar because of it's lack of value. Our stock market has been revealed to be a couple of levels below Las Vegas with similar outcomes. The house normally wins. Food, cars, bicycles, computers, clothing, housewares and on and on. New world vision should include the US making something, maybe our own energy or food or houses. You have demonstrated an allergy to the truth for as long as you've been on these forums just like the rest of the Republican kooks. Here's an example of another one of your lies re Limbo.

http://www.newser.com/story/80034/rush-is-with-rahm-on-lefty-retards.html

Here's what the jerk said which makes your lies clear

“Our political correct society is acting like some giant insult’s taken place by calling a bunch of people who are retards, retards. I mean these people, these liberal activists are kooks. They are looney tunes. And I’m not going to apologize for it. I’m just quoting Emanuel,” Limbaugh said of his anti-PC soulmate, who has apologized and will host some from the offended community by way of apology. “So now there’s going to be a meeting. There’s going to be a *** summit at the White House.”

It's 2010. So what? You realize that total destruction can take place in a very short time. It takes a lot longer to rebuild everything.

FDR correctly blamed you screwballs for the economy years after you retards lost majorities and it might be until 2020 until we start turning the corner on what your destructive policies have wrought.

As for Sarah Palin, one of her questionably redeeming features is that she's not terrible to look at with nothing spewing from her mouth. So "Crazy B!tch" is entirely appropriate.

Even McCain's closest staff was terrified about the possibility of her becoming POTUS.

If you haven't gotten the message. You're nuts.

You're funny. The ONLY reason I bring up Palin is to get people like you stirred up. So far, I'm batting 1.000.

Here is the thing, when they read your usage and think to themselves an incorrect definition, they actuall don't understand the meaning of the word. It is like bizzaro world or something. Words can mean anything Republicans say they mean and that is right because someone holds up a "Don't tread on me" flag and talks about Czars? I mean, most of them are so freaking stupid, they don't even know who the first president was to use that term...typical of that type of voter.

I guess I should apologize for havin' tue much learnin'?

You're being too hard on yourse'f. The only apology you owe is for failing to derail the topic into some sort of semantic issue that no one is challenged by except yourself. Who the hell is 'they'? Do 'they' have a user name? Are there other people that I need to concern myself with? If I wore a tinfoil hat would I be able to hear them?

Do you write dedications to each other in your little red books? Are you the couple who sent the Mao ornament to the white house this year? :D

Whos lying now? Exactly what has the tea party done with regard to legislation? Your party's in control. Has been for some time. Your party doesn't need our help to put forth whatever stupid legislation it wants..

Because of the filibuster they need 60 votes to overcome teabagging obstructionists.

Scott Brown said he was going to honor the legacy of Kennedy.

What, by driving a stake through the heart of health care legislation that Kennedy worked for his whole career?

The Republicans have all these plans for HCR now. Where were these plans for 8 years of GWB, 4 of GHWB and 8 of Reagan.

BTW, I thought you guys hated Wall St. We are down about 400 points on the dow YTD and down about 600 points from the years high. True, we are a little over one month into this year but I would expect, with you guys in control, the dow would be zooming.

http://www.the-privateer.com/chart/dow-long.html

Here's a chart for you. The Dow was at 6547 on March 9 2009. Was that Obama's fault? Jeez, he was in office for a month and an half.

The economic collapse was the fault of Dem's? Please liar.

Again, I guess my edumikation is a affront to propagandists everywhere? Sorry, but a term used for dishonest political reasons, and the same word's actual definition is of importance to people who actually want to talk honestly about politics, very unlike the names you printed.

So, lets talk about governmental economic policy in the 20th century in regards to major industrialized nations, shall we?

Truth be told, The Cultural Revolution in China was an area I concentrated on while getting my history degree. It was a wild time man, WILD! Anyway, it did more to convince me of the errors of my previously held beliefs than anything else. Communism in practice is about power and the maintenance thereof. Then again, so is democracy in practice, but at least we have the option of kicking out the current leaders.

One of my favorite quotes of all time: "Under capitalism, man exploits man. Under communism, it's just the opposite."

Bold .. OK, now you made me laugh!

Let's talk about Obama. That's what the thread is about, isn't it? Or are you trying to continue to derail?

To be honest, this is getting fatiguing. How many posts am I up to today? Feels like about 30? At the pace we're going, we will be at 1000 pages by Sunday. Did you take a look at how 'on fire' this thread has been since Scott Brown got elected? Fun, fun.

I do think a lot of the libs (today's meaning, not the classical) see some opposition and stopped participating. It's more fun for some people to discuss the colombiere and whether Kloden to could have podiumed if AC hadn't attacked. Thanks for keeping this fun.

Actually, many refused to attend the convention this weekend because of her speaking fee. There is a lot of money in saying the same thing over and over and over and over and over....

Heck, **** Armey isn't going to be there. Already they are factioning.

It is hard for everyone to continue combative dialogue. Honestly, it takes a lot out of me at times. It is also why I find it kind of cool that we are all able to step back and say "f-ck it."

Lessee, until today there were only 40 Repub Senators. This is basic math so try and keep up.

I believe Scott Brown voted for some version of single payor healthcare in Massachusetts (from what I hear, could be wrong about that). I'm guessing he'll be expected to work on and vote for heathcare legislation but I think a public option is dead for now.

I don't give a flyin' F about Ted Kennedy's legacy. I hope Scott Brown and I agree on this.

The dow reached over 14,000 under Bush. So what's your point?

I have NEVER said the financial meltdown was entirely the fault of the Dems. Never. My point is we are where we are now. There is plenty of blame to go around and if you think everything that happened is entirely the Bush administrations fault then you are a fool.

So let's pretend you are President Buckwheat. What would you advocate to spur economic growth (besides blame someone else)?

It is actually called the "Obama (General Politics)" thread, so politics of any kind would seem to be on topic. Since you tend to post about other posters at least as often as you do about politics one could argue that you are the one derailing the thread the most often.
Just sayin'.

you and I don't amount to a pile of ...beans.... What can we change? But we can yak it up with the best of 'em.

I could just as easily go to a conservative forum and find a bunch of people who agree with me... how boring, especially when I can lob grenades and watch liberals lose their minds...plus when you are with people who tend to agree, a scripted set of beliefs take ahold, i am not very crazy about GWB, for wildly different reasons than you, but nonetheless, I am not going to have a support of him enforced simply to get along with conservatives that I agree with overall.

As I said early on, attaching oneself to a person (like Obama) is really dangerous compared to settling for being attached to ideas. The problem is we have to vote for people, and people never fail to let our ideals down. How would you like to have been a die hard John Edwards supporter? My God, if you couldn't see what a transparent phony he was from the get go, you were in for one helluva rude awakening. At the hands of The Enquirer, no less.

Oh well. My pants were too tight this morning. Time to go for another walk.

More lying or just ignorance? The night of the election of Brown, many Dems said they wouldn't do anything on HCR until Brown was seated including Obama. They should have pushed Senate bill thru.

Yes, which made his statement about driving a stake thru HCR somewhat ironic.

Scott SoCal said:

You're irrelevant. We were talking about someone who, unfortunately, matters. Playgirl Brown.

Scott SoCal said:

Yes, the house of cards, bubble thing did get big, but then collapsed, primarily from the deregulation you guys are so fond of.

Scott SoCal said:

Why are you attacking strawmen? When did I ever say it was all Bush's fault? It is for the most part the fault of Republicans though. Clinton wasn't forced into repealing Glass Steagall by liberals was he?

Name one Republican who was against repealing Glass Steagall.

Nafta and other WTO stuff wasn't pushed by liberals? The pressure for all that crap came from the RIGHT.

Scott SoCal said:
So let's pretend you are President Buckwheat. What would you advocate to spur economic growth (besides blame someone else)?

1st thing, I'd fire Geitner, Summers, and disassociate from Rubin.

2nd thing, hire Reich, Stiglitz, Krugman and Kucinich.

2a I'd ram through HCR with a strong public option and looking in the future towards single payer.

3rd. Pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan before Labor Day.

4th Re establish WPA and push thru an infrastructure stimulus package. I'd launch a masssive campaign showing Republicans at ribbon cutting ceremonies of infrastructure projects they voted against.

At the beginning of my second term, I'd raise top tax rates for those making over $5M to 50%.

Does that answer your question?

Oh yeah, massive reconstruction of Haiti, and humanitarian intevervention in Congo and Darfur.

What would you do?
