I think (and hope) she knows her likelihood of being elected to a major office (pres/gov/sen) are slim to none. But whoever is the next repub nominee for president is very likely to win the presidency.

The dems are trying to concoct a coup against NY gov paterson right now, and if obama's polls are where they are now (or lower) in 2 years, I would not be surprised to see someone from his OWN party empty out the skeletons from his closet in order to insert a stronger candidate for pres.

I hope I made the 'if' above big enough, because in 2 years just about anything can happen to reverse his fortunes (or not).

lastly, th 'fun' thing about Palin is without even mentiong her name, the 'progressives/libs/democrats' completely freak out at the thought of her. Dems love the little guy, so long as they know their place.

.

It has nothing to do with her being a "little guy." It has to do with her being a dumba$$ who spouts propaganda and little else in terms of political thought, and doesn't have the brains to do complex things like rubbing her tummy and patting her head at the same time. It is even more infuriating that there are people who actually believe she could serve as president. Its funny, Rush went on and on about this video of people standing in line to vote for Obama. Funny that he never mentioned this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKKKgua7wQk

Anyway, most of us who can actually use our brains are a bit put off by someone who isn't a mile wide and an inch deep. She is an inch wide and an inch deep. Throw into the mix Fundamentalist lunacy, and you can understand why she is a bit of a target.

Lastly, the funny part of the Palin hand notes is that she delivered a line about Obama and teleprompters during the same speech. She is a moron who is better suited for talk shows than political office...not that there is that much of an IQ spread between the two, but she is on the short side regardless.

As for Obama in 2 years, keep misunderestimating him.

Thanks for proving my point!

EDIT: Sheesh, filesize is nuts. You'd figure the geniuses at npr would be smart enough to click the 'web optimize' button on their graphics software, but then again, asking libs to think, read or do anything besides agree with each other is a tall order. If I remember when I get home, I will upload a smaller file of the larger graphic. effing npr sheep-morons....

And another example of why congress receives such low ratings from the 'people they serve'

Richard Shelby lifts hold on Obama nominees

Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) has lifted his controversial holds on more than 70 executive branch nominations, the senator's office confirmed Monday night

To quote Gibbs:

It boggles the mind to hold up qualified nominees for positions that are needed because he didn't get two earmarks,

Ooh, and McCain is all Mavericky again:

Mr. McCain now sharply criticizes the bailout bill he voted for, pivoted from his earlier position that the Guantánamo Bay detention facility should be closed, offered only a muted response to the Supreme Court’s decision undoing campaign finance laws and backed down from statements that gays in the military would be O.K. by him if the military brass were on board.Source

Goldwater, McCain, Kyl and who can forget the ever popular Ev Mecham. The guy who said AZ didn't have the money to celebrate Martin Luther King day. Mecham should have quit that day but instead ruined his career the slow painful way.

It's apparently in Wyoming. You know, home of **** Cheney.

Cheney bought even more land in Wyoming after Haliburton gave him that 33.7 million dollar check. Cheney says that WY and Montana should be able to produce 35-50% of the US coal. Go on vacation there as soon as you can before the "clean coal" revolution ruins a super beautiful place

Obama can continue this direction to ensure that nothing gets done. Perfect for the starboard side not worth a **** for the portside. Check the stats and I bet Carter done more for environmental change in one year than Oblabber did. When four years is over Carter’s presidency will make Obama look like the fraud he is.

I get mad when Palin is taken so seriously by any news outlet (pro or con), not to mention the republican party drooling on themselves for her. The party has or is being directed to take her seriously. Very sad for Americans in general.

Of all the people in the United States we are stuck with a ideological fool for President and a talking head for a potential presidential candidate. This does not look good for either party.

Honestly, I think Minnesota is more famous for that bat**** crazy lady Bachmann. What do you have against Franken? Just curious. The guy seems quite capable so far, though he doesn't have a long record, obviously.

He's significantly dumber than Palin with a helluva lot more power.

I'll have to call you on that one. If you're gonna carry Franken's water then I'm afraid I may have to question your credibility.

Hey TFF, have you seen this?

http://www.thinkbigworksmall.com/mypage/player/tbws/23088/1108552

This (if even partially true) makes me sick.

I am just saying that Franken has twice the IQ of Palin because he does. Doesn't mean I think he is a good legislator. That actually remains to be seen considering the limited amount of time he has actually been in office. He is a bit left for me, but we will see.

As for the FDIC/IndyMac deal. Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. However, I do know that their assessment of loan modification is off based on what I know from people still in the industry. Loans are being modified all over the place. IndyMa loans (which I contributed to personally because their programs were so sweet to sell to self employed people) are in a different position because the bank went insolvent. What those guys fail to mention is that there still isn't a market for loans like that anywhere in the world, so either the FDIC services them a SIGNIFICANT cost to us, or they sell them at a significant cost to us. And the FDIC doesn't have a servicing arm, so it is doubly tough, and the companies they paid to service the loans while they held them didn't do it on the cheap because it was a government contract, and we all know what government contracts are like.

Either way, we were on the hook for a lot of money. My bet is that the FDIC calculated that the cost of continuing to pay for the service of the loans was higher than taking it up the backside to sell them. In this case, I'd say they did a good job to sell them for 70 cents on the dollar considering that there is no market to value them.

Franken is awesome. Loved the way he stuffed Leiberman for leaning to the right over healthcare.

Well, now I'm going to ask you to prove that claim.

And you'll probably have to be more convincing than this

For $70 I can make Palin as smart as Einstein, or dumber than Franken (on second thought that would be impossible).

Okay, I was just joking around, but 83? Seriously? I have 50 IQ points on her. Frankin is probably not much off that. You may not like his politics, but he isn't stupid. But I stand corrected, not double.

All of that being said, if that is real, (and I found it on the internet too, just like you) she has no business being a mayor. Sorry, but IQ does play a role that all the ambition in the world will not cover. It is frightening that people would consider her a real candidate. In fact, I would suggest that it would take people of the same caliber of IQ.

GOPhers passing out stimulus porque in home districts and praising its effectiveness

GOPs cash an trash strategy

According to a tally kept by the White House, at least 65 congressional Republicans have touted the stimulus dollars that have flowed into their own states.

Georgia Rep. Phil Gingrey is one of them.

Gingrey calls the stimulus a “boondoggle” and a “dismal failure” — and like all House Republicans, he voted against it last year. But when Cedartown, Ga., got $625,000 in stimulus funds to help build new sidewalks, Gingrey made sure he was on hand to present the city with an oversize check signed by “Uncle Sam.”

I am glad some point out the obvious:

“It’s pretty hypocritical for someone to be against the stimulus and then walk around handing out big checks,” said Andrew Roth, vice president of public affairs for the conservative anti-tax group Club for Growth. “I think Republicans who did that should be worried.”

How's that fiscal conservativy thingy working for ya...

Yea, it has not been a good week for the loyal opposition. Palin using 3rd grade crib notes on her hand, talking about going to war with Iran, and being too stupid to see that Limbaugh used the same word the same way as did Rahm. Tancredo sounding like he thought he was speaking at Volksfront meeting and not a tea bagging extravaganza. And Richard Shelby holding up nominations for....wait for it.......PORK!

Now the "revelation" that Republicans who voted lock step against the stimulus are actually embracing the checks. Who would have thought that? Well, I guess those of us who know that Republicans are good speaking fiscal restraint, but not so hot at practicing it. IF they keep this up (and the economy turns a bit more positive) and they may actually snatch defeat from the jaws of victory come mid-term.

I am not a fan of Maddow, but that piece had flames coming off of it, and was DEAD ON! Republicans: We will tell you how to live, and then do the opposite and tell you its okay because we use different terms than the Democrats. I detest propaganda, and right now, that is all the Republicans know how to do.

Seems that doing nothing but obstructing the working of our government leads to little but being an obstructionist. I for one am praying they are man enough to honor Obama's invitation to do a public health care round table. He will eat them alive.

Also, if you didn't get a chance, watch Jon Stewart show Newt Gingrich a thing or two about honesty: http://www.thedailyshow.com/ http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/02/10/newt-gingrich-richard-reid-american-citizen_n_456259.html Hey Newt, Richard Reid was not an American citizen. Take that along with the other lies (also known as Republican talking points) he told, and dang, it is almost like we cannot trust those guys...

Ok. I get it.

If you guys want to defend Franken then by all means go right ahead. I'll start.

He's the smartest Senator ever.

His stint as a comic and on-ar personality have prepared him so very well.

More praise of prominent dems;

Obama (teleprompter?) has the highest IQ ever.
Hillary's the smartest woman ever.
Bill was soooo smart.
Pelosi and Reid... sharp, sharp tools.
Boxer in Cali? Brilliant.

Liberman was sooo smart when he was on Gore's ticket but then somehow got dumb.

In fact, everyone on the left has a far superior intellect than those on the right. Plus, they just care so deeply for everyone unlike those dumb partisan bigots on the right who just want to keep all their money and kill the planet.

Here's a list of Franken's accomplishments before he was a Senator. Super impressive stuff. I expect great things from him (look at the youtube video upstream).

http://www.frankenlies.com/

This stuff is either accurate or inaccurate. You be the judge.

And BTW, which was worse? Palin with crib notes or Obama's need for a teleprompter when speaking to school kids? Just sayin'.
