Because Evans isn't there?
Partly, but also because our best chance in Goss is showing no form at all and has been sick recently. He has no form. O'Grady, Gerrans & Clarke are showing form but the course does not suit those guys enough for them to do something. I have little confidence in the rest of the team to do anything.

That's ambitious of you ACF :D

Team should be working for O'Grady tbh.

Apparently Goss was in the break yesterday (which O'Grady and Jorgensen survived from) but got dropped.

Goss will be useless and unless make the race hard; Farrar, Cav, Greipel & Kittel will all beat these guys quite easily.

no. ventoso is much faster

yeah. only issue if i have for him is the distance, will he have a better spring at the end of 266km. I am trying to think of any results for ventoso which indicate he can handle the long distances, but I dunno.

I am bored tonight, so went back to read last years WC thread ..... and for a sprinter-type course, that ended in a bunch sprint .... there are a lot of people saying it was the best race they have ever watched. Lots happened, lots of attacks, lots of people getting away and then the peloton getting back

(yes I know it did have a hill on the course, but it was a long way from the finish so it was still a sprinters course)

So - perhaps this year will not suck quite as much and I was thinking.

I am still thinking the finish will be fought out by Cancellara, Thor and SuperPhil - but should be a good race

People were stupid to think it was a sprinters course. Both climbs ave grade was over 8% and has some very steep pitches. This course doesn't really have a 'main climb' in it and no steep sections at all.

the last 100m of the first climb was very steep.

I still remember standing near the top, and after the race had finished I watched laurent didier really struggle in the last few hundred meters. Rocking from side to side.. after that distance that was a killer climb.

IDK, they could maybe work for Haussler, Gerrans or Sutton. The latter two have had results recently. Seems I was wrong about Goss' chances, then.

Sutton? Yeah. He's a superstar, because he won that Vuelta stage. Let's forget stage 20 where Bennati lasted until the end, and won, but Sutton lost 15 minutes.

Are you serious? Do you not read any site with Cycling news posted? It was the most press I've ever seen a worlds team announcement get, mainly because Renshaw missed out.

Yeah maybe the Australian squad should work for Bennati. Stage 2 is a better comparison anyhow. Haussler hasn't won any sprints/showed form recently, although normally he would be my second choice after Goss. Sutton (Vuelta stage) and Gerrans (GP Plouay) have shown form. Those races are relevant: type of finish. Sutton also won KBK. The best options if Goss and Haussler are out of form, I'm not sticking my neck out much to say that. Who do you say?

When I did a quick google search I didn't see any final selection, so I just asked.

Why are people still squabbling about this? :D

Also Ventoso - said months ago that he's finished his Season.

There is about 200 metres of false flat and then >6% ramp 300 metres long. Sure, on average it's 4%.

Ah it is so nice to watch the TT on Eurosport HD. It really shows how absolutely horrid condition the Danish roads are in, and how insane speedbumps we got scattered everywhere. I serisuly dont understand the planning between DCU and the Copenhagen Politicians, how this should broadcast Copenhagen as a wonderful capital to visit is beyond me

I'm saying that if Goss isn't strong enough, but it's to flat for Gerrans (somewhere in between?) then Australia don't have much hope. Unless Haussler miraculously finds form, or O'Grady winds back the clock.

If it's too hard for Goss, it's too hard for CJ. And of it's to hard for Goss, surely that's about the difficulty Gerrans likes?

Sorry. I was a bit OTT, but it was pretty bit news on most cycling sites.

It is a bit disappointing for a strong-on-paper team. Who knows, maybe Gerrans can still place in the likely (uphill, obv.) big sprint. Sutton does have his moments though. He could be the best option if he's still there. There may not be a whole lot of point in discussing it though - presumaably they'll still work for Goss unless/until he gets dropped, and we won't know what plan b is until it happens.

The ITT poll should be something like this:

1. Jack Bobridge (Aus)
2. Fabian Cancellara (Swi)
3. Erik Gustav Larsson (Swe)
4. Tony Martin (Ger)
5. David Millar (GBR)
6. Taylor Phinney (USA)
7. Richie Porte (Aus)
8. Bradley Wiggins (GBR)
9. David Zarbriskie (USA)
10. Other

Bobridge?
It'll be the first road event he's turned up to since January.
Meyer too. Nothing since his fortunate breakaway at the TDU.

Meyer aint racing

Yeah Bobridge hasn't done anything alll year really so I don't see him as a real contender. It's also his first TT of this length
