Wow. That made me rage.

Also, the overkill of leader's jersey colors on shorts and bikes and socks and tape &c. was mentioned earlier; I +9 that (sorry, the original post is waaaaaaaay back somewhere).

Another previously mentioned grievance: Cycling is the only sport doing anything about cheating and so it gets the bad rep for it. That is bull****. Cycling should be celebrated for the number of cheaters--often at the highest levels--that it has unearthed.

And there was one other I was going to throw my support behind. But I've forgotten which one. Whatever. Time for another beer.

Stage 14, with several tough climbs at the end, wasn't contested by the men seeking Yellow. It did show that even the Tour de France could have organizational snafus. A kilometer from the end the follow cars were supposed to go straight and the riders were to bear leftward. In the confusion, the day's likely winner, Philippe Bouvatier, went with the cars. The stage winner, Massimo Ghirotto, recognizing Bouvatier's likely victory, offered Bouvatier the stage prize, a new Peugeot car. The Tour organization came up with a second car so that Ghirotto could keep his prize. In those days, a domestique's income was very poor and this was a tremendous act of generosity on Ghirotto's part.

Antler horns guy is harmless and is a decent person.

Worst things:

* Rabobank's team website being Dutch only. Everybody in the Netherlands speaks English well, just surprised that their website would not have an English section. Even Lampre and Liquigas have an English section.
* Helmets on mountain top stage finishes in the GT's.
* Twitter - nobody cares.
