Because he rested a little before closing the gap to gilbert in one second before killing him on a sprint?

He wheelsucked and won the sprint, that's what Valverde always does.

could be his Achilles' heel?

Possibly. Though I think this was just the race too far for him.

One of the best editions in recent years! Not finishing in a sprint helped it. Could this be the return of the Saxo boys? After this win, I want to see Contador in Liege!

He refused to cooperate with Gerrans, and then tried to drop him. What a joke that guy is.

What a tool.

Gilbert made one attack, sat down and ended 5th.
Valverde closed the gap and outsprinted the group.

He was clearly stronger. Does it hurt or something?

He got the best possible result he could at that moment.

That Valverde wheelsucked as usual? No, because he always does this. ;)

He didn't close the gap to Gilbert. Gerrans did. Valverde did what he always does, hanging in there and then doing nothing.

Anyway good win for Roman and Saxo. Some well needed WT points.

Good ride by Meersman too. Getting 5th.

Great win for Roman. I do not mind Sagan loosing "sometimes" as long as Stybar or Kreutziger take it instead. :)

This race looks very very difficult to control as main favorite.

Sagan should rest now and switch to sprinter mode now.

Valverde sucks too many wheels sometimes.

But seeing how he acts on the podium, just can't bring myself to dislike him :D

This just proves yet again that Gilbert wouldn't have dominated 2011 if Valverde had been there ;)

Yeah, because Phil is in his 2011 shape right now.

Phil won the WC, Valverde was third.

And always beats gilbert.

He was so lucky that valverde was taking a vacation in 2011... The difference in talent and class are so obvious.
