I don't get it. There was no need whatsoever to launch the sprint so early.
He was too afraid of the chasers.

No way. The chases were never gonna reach them.

Seemed like a small brainfart. :(

Sad for Petr but at least Kwia took some turns unlike Alaphillipe
To be fair to Alaphilippe, he did take a turn - and then clearly got a bit of an earful from the DS and had to go to the back - shaking his head in the process.

Good finale. Sagan went way too early, and just wasn't cool enough in the situation. Great ride by him nonetheless, and good to see that Kwiatkowski atleast contributed a little bit, when Alaphilippe didn't (and had reason not do so).

For the first time ever I found myself rooting for Sagan, what a move he made 7km out. More for the jersey then the man......

Kwia is having quite a season so far!

Who was the guy that compared Sagan to Merckx? That is a Major Stretch........no comparison.

Sagan could have played it cooler. He didn't have to pull so hard with 700m to go. The peloton were never going to catch him. Then he kicked on in the sprint too early. 210-215m to go and he went. Could have waited another 30-40m. But what an attack on the Poggio. All three top quality riders who will go on to win great things. Alaphilippe will probably be World Champion some time.

This outcome was so incredibly obvious.
Really? I thought Alaphillipe would win as he really sat on at the end
Tbh it wasn't obvious that Kwiat would beat Bala Jr. but I only meant that it was obvious that Sagan loses the sprint after working way more than the others.

Lol @ people calling Kwiatkowski a wheel sucker. The best sprinter in an attack has to do the most work, that's cycling tactics 101. Kwiatkowski did his fair share.

Kwiat won because of tactics, but he was also one of the three strongest in the race. He had Viviani behind. I don't understand the outrage. This isn't in any way equivalent to Gerrans (who is one of the greatest overachievers ever though).

Lol Kwiat get congratulated for doing what Gerrans does. Got to love this forum

When Gerrans goes solo like Kwiat did in Strade Bianche, I think the criticism would stop. Kwiat helped a little bit. Gerrans sat on Cancellara the whole way.

Viviani would never win it in a sprint. Alaphillipe would have had the excuse. Kwiat was just lucky enough Sagan didn't have the balls to bluff with Kwiat there.

Nope, Gerro also did one pull, the exact same Kwiatko the wheelsucker/motorbike sucker did.

Great finale. I was rooting for Sagan but can't be unhappy with a Kwiatkowski win. Smart riding by both Alaphilippe and Kwiatkowski. Sagan as well until the sprint.
