Who knows what could have been. Youngest winner of a monument since WW2? He looked very fresh. Glad he seems to be doing relatively OK though. Also, descending is part of cycling, and if you veer off the road because you're pushing too hard... it's a choice, in a way. Not to take anything away from Fuglsang - superb rider.
Hard to say, but Fuglsang finished at nearly two minutes in Poland.
Anyway, this wasn't a great day for top cyclists. Bernal left the Dauphiné because of back pain. Kruisjwijk and Buchmann crashed and quit. Roglic crashed and might not start tomorrow. Froome looks done and Thomas doesn't look much better.

There is a joke here somewhere, with this sentence and Fuglsang winning, but let's just not add fuel to the fire :D

GT and Liege? Big difference

GT and current Lombardia? Not too big tbh. Ofcourse some traits and qualities are more benifical in one than the other, but even guys like Quintana are normally competitive in Il Lombardia.
Competitive as in hangs around till the last 15k or so?
Win it: unlikely to do so and hasn't.
( Chaves is not himself anymore)

Fuglsang looked like a bear today. He made a strong impression on every climb, reacted alertly to Bennett's attack and dropped him on the last steep part. It was a great decision to go to Italy for the classics and stay away from the Dauphiné. His name is now added to the list of riders who have won the two biggest climbing classics: Liège and Lombardia.
