Especially Greipel is really atrocious. Hoping for proper sprint tommorow and proper gc battle at weekend. No need of bonus sec for Sags tommorow. He has enough already.
Yeah, there's a top sprint field here - Kittel, Greipel, Sagan, Viviani, Groenewegen, Démare...and only Sagan has even made the podium in the 2 sprints so far. What has happened to the Gorilla? He just seems to be off his game these days.

Age. I have been saying since January that this would be Greipel's last year at the top, and I was only half right (that is, if you consider 1 stage in the Giro and Paris-Nice and a couple of other relatively meaningless results to be 'at the top.')
In any event, he is now slower than Bauhaus and Magnus Cort.
Then again, the BinckBank Tour doesn't tell us much about how fast a cyclist really is at the moment.
I guess my point is that this is not just a poor season from Greipel, but in my opinion the end of a great sprinter.

In any event, this race has really seen the young up-and coming sprinters - the guys who will be challenging for the GT stage wins in 5 years - getting to flex their muscles:
Bauhuas
Barbier
Consonni (who I have high hopes for)

And then a bunch of other, primarily Belgian or Dutch young cyclists who should be looked out for who are filling out the top 10, as well as the already well-established young sprinters such as Groenwegen and Magnus Cort.

I agree, Greipel is significantly declining throughout this season and it was really stupid to see Lotto Soudal play his card everyday in the tour when they had a bunch of guys who are great at attacking. He could only win a sprint nowadays when everything falls in the right place and all of his competitors make mistakes.

Most Tour sprinters (who did entire or at least 2/3rd Tour) have bad legs from the Tour + Criteriums combination.

Greipel and Groenewegen in the break!

Correction : Break is Greipel, Politt and Ligthart.

Really impressive sprint by Theuns. Best performance I've seen from him in a while.

Lol, top sprinters just don't give a **** this race so far...
Kittel not in good shape, Demare neither. I don't think they don't care.

2 weeks ago they were winning in the Tour de France.
I don't think shape is the issue.
I agree with the latter part of your statement though. They don't care.
I guess they are enjoying the lack of pressure and being free to roll across the line.

Démare left the Tour a month ago, ill.
And I actually said I don't think they don't care. It is WT and Sagan is kicking their asses - you're not a real sportsman if you think 'meh'. It's not like they have many races they could win this season.

So, the final kilometre in tomorrow's stage apparently contains no less than two U-turns AND two ninety degree turns. That seems a bit much.
