 - He said sorry and Gesink is an adult as well. Saying h would of not won anyway is a idiotic arguement. It's not the point. It's like saying that if doper returned a positive test that he still would of won anyway.

I don't see the problem. How is claiming that Evans would have lost a sprint to Valverde an 'idiotic argument'? Most GC candidates would lose a sprint to Valverde, so I don't see why it would be so stupid to think that even if Evans had Gesink's position, he would have lost the sprint anyway. And it has nothing to do with being anti-Evans, but rather trying to weigh the facts in a plausible manner. I'd make the same claim that Evans would have lost to Valverde in the sprint, I think most people would.

And the youngest is right. Analogies aren't your strong point. Fighting for position in a sprint and comparing it to a premeditated and planned doping program as equivalent opportunities to cheat is actually quite stupid. There is a huge difference between intending to do something and doing something accidentally.

Sastre is a gentleman alright. But Evans? Wow, that's a quick transformation.

Indeed.
Evans is a great cyclist. But I can't get myself to like his attitude, and his past responses to failing. IMO of course.

Mollema? Not a chance.

I agree. Might feature on a stage or two, but has never done enough to suggest he will compete. top 10 would be a feat imo.

a very weak starting list with a lot of big names not racing. I have to pick Sastre.

Before he went away Vino was a higher class rider than Sastre and Evans. Now that he is back I would not be surprised to see him smash both of them in the Giro.

He's turning 24 later this month... So this prediction would have to last approximately a decade to hold.... 30 GTs in that time. Seems like an awfully bold prediction.

Regardless, while this Giro does look to be a pretty good course for Gesink (lots of long mountain finishes and few ITT kms) I doubt sending him there with no preparation after he just had his first big season peak wouldn't lend him to being in the form he needs to take on Sastre, Evans or Vino, who have been prepping for this race specifically and training up to it. I know Contador did it in '08 and won with a pretty decent margin (given that a doped up Ricco was still 2 mins behind) but Gesink isn't Contador.

Bennati pulled out. No reason given.

Let the conspiracy theories begin.

Dall'Antonia will replace him.

He is the real "Wild card" but then think is he may gain 3 minutes on a stage, then lose 5, then gain 2, you just never know, which is why people avoid picking him.

IMO while I don't think of CE as the most explosive climber he is definitely one of the most tenacious (like Menchov).*I think he would do really well in this Giro; if it is his focus I think he could win it.

The Giro has been on the schedule for a lot longer, the Tour start was only conformed at the end of March, while BMC were talking about the Giro from the beginning of the year.
Obviously the Tour being the biggest race (for sponsors as well) means it has to be a focus, but the Giro was the original plan... you don't knock back Tour spots, though :)

Doesn't that BMC are splitting their team between the Giro & TOC this month; but will have the full squad at Le Tour answer it?

Not exactly, the author just wrote that his main goal was the Tour, it's been known for a long time now that he will be going all out in the Giro.

Of course he still has to say things like "I'm still aiming for the Tour" to please ASO/Sponsors/Fans, not everyone knows how hard it is to go full gas in back-to-back GTs.

No shock that Pellizotti has been a naughty boy. First suspect I had in mind. Bang, he's out. Doesn't matter, I had already doubted he had enough to get 3rd with Vino's form. Now it is settled.

1. Sastre
2. Evans
3. Vinokourov

See you all back here in 3 weeks time. ACF94, bring tissues.

He may be the enternal bridesmaid, but I thought Vladimir Karpets showed some pretty useful form at Romandie. Maybe an outside podium bet?

Santambrogio is not in BMC's stella line up, I see.

In fact, I'd have to say, this year's Giro field looks pretty thin.

So weak, last time Sastre and Evans were the main GT favorites it made LA come back. :D

If you don't have AC and/or Schlecklet you need about every other genuine GT contender for a good field =/
