Signing off for the night.....

Prediction for tomorrow: Contador and Sanchez to attack last 2km of Tourmalet and then Sanchez to nail the descent for Contador to wheel hug and then work together on Luz to gain a minute back on rivals.

Watch this space.....

I'll post this here, well because it is a relatively current thread about the Tour. Hoogerland's legs:

i can and will absolutely, positively, without an iota of doubt proclaim *the* sure thing for this stage: contador and schlecklette's uphill trackstand record set last year will remain intact. :D

other than that, i haven't a clue *except* for this: if contador's knee is sufficiently recovered and if he has the legs...seems to me alberto is genetically predisposed to attack because he can. and *if* the aforementioned comes to pass, one other thing is for sure: there will be gc standings carnage.

i understand evans is a diesel BUT...he is in fabulous form and should not be underestimated. :):: waving ::: to acf) i would love to see cadel in yellow tomorrow.

Trentino and Dauphiné are not 3 week TDFs as previously mentioned by a lotof guys. I would be a nice chunk of money that he will blow up on at least one of the 4 mountain stages and will be well behind the best climbers on the others. Plus he will get beat in the ITT obviously.

like I said he's been 13th before in the tour in same situation except more favorites still in race then

Personally i think the comment about VIno winning the stage in his wheelchair presents a more likely scenario;)

Doesn't the guy who wins this stage often have a team with the strongest legs? SBS hasn't actually distinguished itself in this regard. What if Andy Schleck's support riders set a blistering pace from the start? And how many other teams have a second climber like Frank Schleck who can both keep his brother company and attack the others, until the final attack by Andy, long after the other support riders have fallen back?

Of course, Contador has another plan, but there is hardly anyone who seems capable of supporting him this year, unless they have just been hiding and resting up until now. Bjarne is no dummy.

This is the TDF. The important attacks will occur in the lat 5km of the last climb, don't you think? Getting there in one piece with the freshest possible legs will probably be the key for the eventual Tour winner.

There are only 3 uphill finishes!

Yep. Stage 1, Muur de Bretagne and Super Besse.

In addition to that there are 4 mountian top finishes.

Luz, Beille, Galibier, Alpe.

I think this Cadel and Alberto bashing is really getting stale. Let's just wait for another 12 hours and I am sure we will get an indication of how each of favorites are doing.

Frank Schleck won't attack, he will support andy and react to attacks from others. Because if he attacks then how does he know whether andy can respond or not.

SBS are still strongest for mountains in my eyes, Navarro, Hernandez, CAS and Porte (who will surprise alot of people) plus the extra help of Tiralongo.

Could it be possible that HTC controls the first 100km for the intermediate sprint and not let a breakaway go?

If Contador is healthy it doesn't really matter. It will be "pace-setting" until the last climb and once they arrived there he can attack anytime he wants to. And it won't matter if Leopard has 1 rider there or the whole team.
