A question for everyone, if Contador can win this does it rate better than Pantani coming from a long way back to win in '98?

Also, would be the first to win Giro/Tour double since Pantani.

if contadfor attacks tomorrow on the big climb before galibier than he can become maybe in the shadow of pantani.

Dear Andy and Frank Schleck,
We've said it before and we'll say it again. Contador is not your only rival and even if he was, you won't gain time by staring at him constantly instead of going for a real attack.

Which frankly is to be expected. He's been strong throughout. I can't imagine he can hold it all the way to Paris.

Contador looks like he's getting very comfortable. Very comfortable.

so you think he's going to get better and better after a very hard 3 week giro?

you know more then most I was against the giro-tour double before the tour but at this point I am all for it, if it saves this tour.

even if andy can manage to do something special I'd be happy. Tho I disle the guy.

Props to evans tho, if he wins he deserves it.

to be fair ryo did state that andy sucks in the raib otherwise is ok yesterday.

maybe not fair to judge evans on this tho. I reckon cadel is looking tired.[/QUOTE]

I disagree , he covered every attack with ease and didn't look troubled at all in the climb , im not sure what heppened on the descent , the coverage was awful

No-one can beat Pantani. As much as I like Contador and his riding style, Pantani is more than that.

I lived in Italy for some time. Say ciclismo, they often don't care. Say Giro and they nod. Say Pantani and you get the Italians excited and you know how they talk when they are excited.

Glad to see a smile still on Voeckler's face. He's going to have a tough two days ahead of him, but he looks good.

And why not? There's no indication that he's struggling but even if he gets completely blown away tomorrow, he's far exceeded everyone's expectations and had a spectacular TdF.

The great thing about EBH today was that he knew that he was the strongest sprinter, and still attacked on the climb. That's the riding of a champion.

No, because Contador came in this as a favorite, and he is one of the better TTs.

In 98, Ullrich was the ultimate favorite, defending champ and there was a heavy belief back then that a pure climber could not win the Tour, after Indurain and Lemond. Ullrich at the time was also perceived as a guaranteed 5 time tour winner.

Pantani also launched an attack on the Galibier about 60km before the stage end, and of course Ullrich cracked in the mind.

The commentator said something like "it's no wonder Andy fears the descends with his head turned around like that!"
