No surprise that joining Pharma boosted his performance...

But wasn't he working on the front for Cataldo during the climb? If so, that makes his 14th place even more impressive.

he did work indeed for Cataldo, Pauwels doin' well all the better for him after his 2 lost years at Sky

Who was the Lotto not finishing far of? De Clercq?

Hopefully it will be better than this first week.

Yup, even the stupidly backloaded 2008 Giro had a couple of uphill finishes in week 1 to let the GC status quo set itself. Here, nothing. Except the TTT, which is even worse than nothing in terms of setting up a GC status quo.

Maybe he woke up and realized that this is the moment to step out of the shadow his ( presumably more talented ) brother has cast over his achievements recently. Imagine Frank wins the Giro and Andy predictably fails in the Tour - we might be talking about "Brother of Frank" rather than "Brother of Andy".

Nice stage!

Still some doubts about Frank. He lacks some stamina to be a great GC rider but his rivals aren't Contador, Cadel or his brother.

And if JRod is poor now may he peak at 3d week

just think, Frank is only getting in shape! ;) To be honest, I guess he's a bit surprised with the Giro speeds.

Guess how much he'll be surprised were everyone will attack at 50+ kms to go into the dolomites and he won't know what to do :D

Probably, Hesjedal has captured Maglia Rosa at least until the stage with Giau, what you think?
