Don´t know what´s better... The French "just go riding for 4 or 5 hours", or the Sky approach, "don´t leave out any detail".
Especially younger riders have to make their own experiences, see how their body reacts to different training and other influences.
The best will be a composition of doing it scientificly but listening to the body.
Löfkivist, for example, who has grown up with the "French school", hasn´t improved much with the scientific methods of Columbia and Sky.
It´s all about finding out what works best for the individual rider.
I like the Sky approach, at least much more than e.g. Voeckler´s, who says (don´t know if he speaks the truth) that he oftenly doesn´t even train with a heart rate monitor.
Cycling becomes more and more professional. Tech, nutrition, everything. Some riders take PEDs that aren´t even on the free pharmacy market yet, so if you´re up to date with these things, it won´t be so hard to be up to date with training either.
